Definitely a factor. Not THE factor. The Williams injury also was a huge factor, as was the inspired play of Utah. I believed our punishing game vs. Ohio State was a - not THE - factor in our loss to Marshall. It happens often in college football. A team plays a tough, hard game vs. a highly regarded opponent, and, win or lose, does not perform up to its potential the next week.

Caleb Williams is a professional football player. He gets paid no matter what.

I wonder if Williams will play in the bowl for USC? Popped Hamstring is a tough injury to heal.

Hard to feel bad for the young man who paints F*** Utah on his fingernails. Did the same against ND and last year derogatory symbol against Texas. Sorry he got banged up but hey “kharma” usc is the right place for him. No class.

Alabama is a two loss team and should not be in the playoffs. I think Michigan, TCU and Georgia are in, not matter what. That would leave Ohio State as the 4th. Seems pretty cut and dried to me.

I agree about Georgia and Michigan but not TCU. I think if they lose they are out.

And as far as a 2 loss team I mostly agree but circumstances change and come 2024 it will expand to 12 teams and that would include some 3 loss teams this season.

And with respect to Bama, both their losses were very close and they could have won them both. I believe your team would be a real threat.

My memory is unreliable. Didn't a 2-loss LSU win the national championship a while back, or did they just get into the 4-team playoff without winning it all?

2008 Sid. LSU was a 2 loss team that qualified for the NC game in the BCS era and beat a 1 loss Ohio State team.

Bill, i respectfully disagree. Georgia, Michigan and TCU (if they all lost today) would end up with 1 loss against credible schedules, as did Ohio State. No 2 loss team has made the playoffs and they shouldn't now. Alabama did lose 2 games by a total of 3 points but while one close loss could be defended, 2 can't.

What a great game with KSU and TCU . TCU got screwed on that spot, should have been nose of the ball almost touching the goal line. But then to not sneak it with a qB who is a strong tough runner, i just don't know why they tried to run it in with the RB.

I do think TCU deserves to be in the CFP. There is precedent, the Irish got in 2020 when they were undefeated but lost in the ACC Title game.

I do question why TCU opted to run the ball on 4th down in lieu of kicking a field goal?

Ok, USC lost and I think we all agree that Ohio State is then end. Then TCU lost in OT and have one loss. So I guess those of you saying Bama is not in think TCU is still in as the 4th seed?

That's possible but I also think it is possible that BAMA gets the 4th spot.

I personally think that it looked to me like TCU scored a TD on one of those last two plays.

Regardless I think it's going to be Bama but will not be upset if TCU is in.

How about this scenario, Georgia loses to LSU putting Michigan as the number one seed. Georgia and Ohio State both would still deserve to be in as the number 2, 3 seeds. Bama gets the 4th even with 2 losses. Then in the finals Bama upsets Michigan and Georgia beats Ohio State giving us the third Georgia vs Bama for it all? :)

I don't really think Georgia loses but?????

So it will be #2 Michigan vs #3 Ohio State? An interesting gut check game for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes, given that the current narrative is that Michigan has bullied them the last 2 times they have played.
