I didn't know Hartman was even elgible for the portal, he's been the starter at Wake Forrest since 2018. That's 5 years, I think the free covid year in 2020 is the only reason he was able to play this year.

Blake Corum underwent knee surgery today although the specific procedure was not identified. Rumors are that he might be available for the playoffs but the people in the know are not talking. Huge loss.

It looks like Cade McNamara is transferring to Iowa which IMHO is not an ideal place for him given how miserable their play calling and offensive line were.

That is interesting, of course he might have looked at the QB room there and said to himself...OK I AM the starter! Maybe they are telling him the OL was young and they expect to be better and maybe also add through the portal. Being a West Coast kid I thought he might head to the Pac12.

Don't know what Don has heard but I'm reading it's a definite possibility. Kinda can't blame them. We played a good game last year but that's not what they look at. We (who normally travel well) didn't sell all our tix last year and several star players sat out (as happens to a lot of the teams left out of the playoffs. PSU travels well and I think their players and fans will be itching to get to the RB.

Jurkovec in the Portal? Didn’t want to compete against the backup I guess.

McNamara to Iowa? Good. Don’t think
He would be much better than Pyne for ND.

watched some of Hudson Card game film. Looks good but not a lot of experience which I really think is what we need.(experience)

I understand Card had only two years

I was surprised that Jurkovec entered the portal as well. That kid who started against ND when he wasn't running for his life looked like he had promise. Maybe Hafly has told Phil that going forward they are looking to him to be the starter, or maybe Phil doesn't want to play behind that OL another year. He's got another year so for him to get any look from the NFL he has to be the starter someplace and he also has to stay healthy which is something he hasn't been able to do.

Personally when he verballed to ND I was really looking forward to his being the ND QB. It didn't work out for whatever the reason and I wished him well at BC. In his first year he looked a lot like the QB I had hoped he'd be for the Irish, but then injuries and bad OL's have intervened. He's also made several ill advised (IMHO) public statements about ND that I wish he'd kept to himself.

I don't know who the Irish will end up with, the kid from NC State hasn't made any public announcement yet that he was entering the portal and he's still recovering from that torn pec surgery which will keep him from Spring Drills wherever he ends up.

Other names besides Card are the Boise State QB, the Tulane QB, the Tulsa QB and who knows maybe some USC QB as they seem to shed QB's every year.

Last year Brennan Armstrong had an incredible season going before he was injured, this year he's been more ordinary. I think UVA had some changes, but that kid was amazing till the injury. Now he's in the portal.

Here's a link to the guys currently in the portal. The link allows you to choose to rank them by position. Remember next week is when kids officially can enter the portal. Also don't forget some will wait till after the bowl game to enter the portal. The window closes Jan 18th.

Stu why do you think they don't want to go to the Rose Bowl. There was a time when that was the preferred destination for all Big 10 teams.

Pyne is in the Portal. Buchner has been practicing but don’t know if he’s cleared.

So we go into the bowl game with no QB and missing two AA. Remember all that crapola the announcers were dishing up during the SC game? Here's little Drew in his ND uniform.... he always wanted to play football for the Irish.

I guess it was not a good decision to not give Angeli any snaps this year. Does Rees have any elegibilty left?

I think the article pretty well spells it out if the article is true. Would be a repeat game (probably) with Utah or Washington...didn't show all that well attendance wise last year...letdown after the Michigan game...rather play in the Orange Bowl...etc. I don't necessarily agree but then neither am I a guy who "travels well".

Pyne could have waited till after the bowl. But do s seem he wasn’t as dedicated to ND as we were led to believe.
Best case now is that Buchner is cleared to play.

Unless Buchner is 100%, in shape and looking sharp in practice Freeman would be nuts to play him. This is a mail in game.

If you want to go play somewhere else now is the time to enter the Portal. Not after the bowls.
