Buckeyes were definitely competitive, they kept the game close but just couldn't get over the hump. It was a pretty interesting game from the refs point, they seemed to want to "let them play"...but it seemed like Duke got the better of the Buckeyes at the foul line.
Well color me surprised, the Irish are up on the Spartans 42-24 at the half. They were stone cold and the Irish were hot as a firecracker. I don't expect that to continue, Sparans made a run at the end of the half and while a 18 point lead is significant, I've seen many a game where teams can come back from that deficiet. The hot team goes cold and the cold team starts to get hot. Izzo is too good a coach not to get those guys to come out and make it a game in the 2nd half.
Well MSU was down 18 at the half and ended up losing to the Irish 70-52. We cooled off in the 2nd half but they never really heated up to take advantage. MSU was missing a couple of players the announcers said were critical, Irish only played 6 guys. We are waiting on the guy who was supposed to be the starter at PG to get healthy then we'll have a 7 man rotation which is pretty typical for Mike Brey. I see that IU is beating UNC late and likely to win. The ACC/Big 10 is likely to be a push.
It was hard to find, but yes, it's confirmed. Of lesser interest to all but me, Butler under Thad Matta handed K-State its first loss of the season in a Big East-Big 12 game.
Looks like the #2 Longhorns are going to beat #7 Creighton at home in the B12/Big East Challenge. Chris Beard has done a terrific job rebuilding Texas. This is a really good team.
Rutgers upsets Indiana 63-48 at home this afternoon. Wow! Dickerson fouled out for the first time in his career for the Hoosiers!
The suprise isn't that they upset IU as Rutgers has only lost to Miami who also is having a good start to their season, but that they beat them by 15 points.
Yes Sid, thanks for you spotting that error on my part. We will play Rutgers Thursday here in Columbus.
Illini played well down the stretch and got to OT, then took over in OT. 1st loss for the Longhorns. It had to happen, we weren't going undefeated.
Buckeyes win at home tonight vs Rutgers 67-66, on a last second shot for three points and the win in our opening Big Ten conference game.
Big game here in Houston is the #1 Houston Cougars v #10 Alabama. The Tide have the nation's leading freshman scorers. Cougars have a couple of upper classmen who are going to be NBA draft picks
