Awesome KP! My first grandchild will be here just before March Madness. Her name will be Isabella, but I'm calling her Izzy.

Kp ever serve on a Carrier? I used to see them across the harbor from NTC. Pretty impressive boats and they were pretty much the only ones that had a dental clinic.

Terry, I was on 3 carriers. USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV42), USS Eisenhower (CVN69), and USS Coral Sea (CV43) and yes we had Flight Surgeons and a Dentist.

Plank owner is a crewmember of a ship at the time of commissioning. Traditionally, A plank owner receives a plank of the ship's deck when the the ship is decommissioned, obviously dates from the times of wooden ships.

    That's great KP!
My Dad is a plank owner from the USS Talbot DD-114. He tells me he must be really old since she was decommissioned a good while ago.

So I was on the Battleship Wisconsin, which was in Newport News Navy Yard for tourists...there are no wooden planks on the decks so what do you get?

I'm not sure. Probably a coin or a certificate. I actually got a coin after the FDR was decommissioned. I think they used the ship's MWR funds to mint a limited edition serialized silver.coin for.all of the crew that made the last cruise.

Michigan State looks really good even though they came into the season unranked But they gave #2 rated Gonzaga all they could handle out on the west coast and then they beat #4 rated Kentucky in a great game. Look out Big 10, which looks wide open as they have no teams in the top 10 and only 3 teams in the top 25.

Kansas beats Duke in the second game of the State Farm Champions game 69-64. First loss for their new coach. We will play Duke on their home court in the ACC challenge game this season.

I read that some (don't know who) have picked IU to finish first in the Big 10. I'm somewhat puzzled by that, but what do I know?

Big Ten race should be an interesting one this season. Michigan State, Iowa, Michigan Illinois, Indiana, Purdue all are contenders. Winner will have four losses in my opinion.:)

There was no Tiki or other wood planks on the Battleship Wisconsin when I toured it in fact there wasn't a lot to keep a sailor from going over board, no high railings like you see on cruise ships. Damn scary if you ask me.
