St Ed's and St Ignatius are big rivals in Cleveland. Coach Kyle is retiring and that was his last game ever after a long and successful career. So Coach Lombardo and the St Ed's players went over and congratulated him and wished him well. He did lose though in his last game ever in the Ohio playoffs to his biggest rival in St Ed's. Coach Kyle was one of the most successful coaches in Ohio high school history
Thanks! I knew St. Ed's sounded familiar, but I couldn't place them geographically. Very classy gesture.
Coach Kyle and Iggy are legendary in Ohio HS football. Countless state titles and great, great players have been dotting the Buckeye roster and many other D1 programs for decades. The rivalry -v- St. Ed's spans generations and is the real deal.....that gesture would be the equivalent of Bo bringing his Wolverine squad across the field to deliver well wishes to Woody upon his retirement...... Wonderful gesture and class act, great example and message to those kids
I see that after playing closer than expected with Missouri the Vols got rolling and rolled Missouri. It was 28-24 at one point and with a few minutes to go it's 59-24 Vols . LSU went to Arkansas and escaped with a 13-10 win. I think that locks up the SECW for them. As I am writing this post with under 2 minutes to go and Tenn with the ball and a huge lead Tenn throws a bomb and nearly scores again, they don't go into victory formation and run another play. If they go ahead and socre again with their 1st team in you might question the sportsmanship.
Well they went ahead and ran it in on Missouri to win 66-24. I guess a kneel down isn't in the Tenn playbook.
Neither do I kp and color me shocked at how the Ole Miss offense is operating against the Alabama D and how the Ole Miss D has stopped Bryce Young Still it's only 10-0 and lot of football left to be played.
Our wide receivers can't get open and when they do they drop the ball. Can't run either. Can't stop the run. I'm at a loss.
Just an off hand observation, but Bryce Young's ability to avoid the rush and make throws on the run is amazing. That drive he just completed to make it 10-7, was all on that ability. A lot different than when Henry was the RB!
Alabama/Ole Miss 24-24 for somebody without a "dawg" in this fight it's been a great game to watch. and the Tide about to take the lead.
One thing that won't get much attention this weekend. But Clark Lea got his first SEC win as the HC at Vanderbilt. Tough gig to be the Vanderbilt HC.
That was a tense finish to the game with Ole Miss having some shots at the win before failing on 4th down. Other games...Purdue beating Illinois creates a big logjam in the Big Ten West....4 way tie. A few games left to help sort things out though, but tie breakers might be the key in the end.
Raise your hand if you had Brian Kelly winning the SEC West and defeating Alabama in his 1st season at LSU? He has UAB and then the final regular season game at Texas A&M. Could finish 10-2 and in the top 10 for the regular season. He's got no chance against Georgia in the SEC Championship game though. Still I'll bet even the most optimistic LSU fan had 10-3 as his first season. For awhile it looked like Brent Venables was a great hire at OU, and he of course still might be but he lost again today to a mediocre West Virginia team in Morgantown.
