UCLA is undefeated, Oregon has recovered from the beat down in Athens so a big PAC12 showdown in Eugene. Observation, it wasn't that long ago that if someone told yours truly that two top conference teams played a 52 - 49 game last team with the ball won. I'd have guessed a PAC12 game. Exciting offense dominated by the passing game, defense sort of an after thought.
Jermaine Burton getting some flack for this, it appears that he really didn't need to do anything other than just keep walking towards the Lockeroom, the girl wasn't getting in his face or impeding his progress. It doesn't really look like much of slap, but he's going to have to probably miss a game and issue an apology. This is one of the reasons fans are kept off the field. 2 weeks ago a Texas Tech fan did shove a UT football player, again hardly a big deal but still.
So I don't really understand why some like Brian Kelly's daughter thinks it is cool to call out other teams fans. Show some class
Apple does not fall far from the tree. Wonder if she is aware that LSU fans are not known for their hospitality to visiting fans.
OK multitasking here, watching Astros/Yankee's and putting up Week 8!! No games as big as Tenn/Alabama on the schedule this week, but that doesn't mean there aren't some big important games. 1. Georgia gets the weekend off to prepare for the Gators 2. Ohio State welcomes the No-Offense Iowa Hawkeyes to Ohio Stadium. They do have a good defense though but can't see them holding down CJ Stroud and company. Are the Buckeyes at full strength on offense with their skill players? 3. Tenn vs UT Martin a perfect wind down from the big game with Alabama. They have replaced the goal posts! 4. Michigan also has the weekend off to prepare for Michigan State who stupidly trolled them on Twitter. 5. Clemson has undefeated Syracuse coming to Death Valley. The 'Cuse are a surprise undefeated team, but it's Death Valley and Clemson. It might be a good game though. 6. Alabama gets the Pirate and Mississippi State in Tuscaloosa. I hope they have a better pass defense Saturday than they did against Tenn and that they can cut down on their record penalty pace. Bryce Young is clearly healthy and that means it's unlikely the Pirate can pull it off, but maybe a good game. 7. Ole Miss @ LSU this game used to always be played on Halloween Weekend. This could be an interesting game. That bad loss to Tenn doesn't look so bad right now and the Tigers showed some offense against the Gators in the Swamp. Ole Miss on the road in Tiger Stadium could be another really good game. Ole Miss as always under Kiffin is good on offense so I think LSU is going to have to get off fast and not let them get a couple of scores up and get into a shootout. 8. TCU @ KState One of several important B12 games. Both teams are 3-0 in the conference and both teams stomped OU. Don't have a clue here. That was a heck of come back win for TCU over Oklahoma State, is that a spring board for a run. Going to Manhattan will be tough. 9. UCLA @ Oregon This is the biggest game of the year in the Pac12, well maybe Utah/USC last weekend might have a word. But UCLA has really looked good this year and Dorian Thompson-Robinson is having a great year and they are actually playiing defense. Oregon has recovered from the beat down in Athens and from what the guys on ESPNU have said that it's because of the play of Bo Nix, who has been Mr. Consistent due to OL and a good running game. Autzen Stadium is always a hard place to win and Game Day will be there. 10. Oregon v UCLA 11. Oklahoma State vs Texas. Another stop on the return to respectability tour for the Longhorns. I have less confidence after that Iowa State game that we are really back. Cowboys have been having a good season and that close loss to TCU makes this a big game for both squads. It's Spencer Sanders the 5th year senior QB vs RS Freshman Quin Ewers. Sanders has been having a very good season as has Ewers. Difference might be if the Longhorns can get Bijan Robinson going in the running game. Purdue @ Wisconsin. Purdue a threat to win the BTW, Wisconsin just trying to get through the season. I like the Boilermakers in this one setting them up for a couple of big games with Iowa and Illinois. Texas A&M @ South Carolina Aggies look like they are going to start Haynes King, which IMHO he deserves after his gutty performance on one leg in the loss at Tuscaloosa. So Carolina coming off a win over Kentucky, but it was without Will Levis so there is that. Spencer Rattler is the So. Carolina QB, formerly a Heisman Trophy front runner at OU! I like the Aggies here with that good defense. Maybe King will stop turning it over and that will make a big difference in the rest of the season. Kansas @ Baylor. KU no longer undefeated, 2 game losing streak Baylor also on a 2 game losing streak losing a tough one to West Virginia. Both teams have lost their starters at QB, I don't know if either will be back this weekend. Both teams in sort of a must win situation as far as the B12 race goes.
I had to laugh... I did take Iowa to score the lowest points this week in the contest. I know i'm going out on a limb there! I almost feel sorry for Leach... almost. A week of firey Nick practices will have the Tide on fire for the Cowbell Mob. I've had a theory this whole season that there are very few teams more overrated than Ole Miss. And of course we have to find out against the team I hate most in the SEC. Grrr... no win for me here as I am a vocal detractor of that piss-ant Lane Kiffycakes. I think this will be a good game along the same lines as the TCU/OKSt. I lean toward the home team only because of that slight advantage. So you're back AGAIN? Which iteration is this? If this is in Stoolwater, I'll go with the Pokes. Otherwise the Orange and white refs will take care of things for you. Thanks for the vote, but the Aggies have even more issues. It looks like we could be without 4 of the OL who have the most starts. Probably not a good time to throw the freshman out there. SC fans have been talking a lot of sh!t, but not much I can say back. We will be trotting out a turnover machine at QB, behind a limping OL. Gotta hope the defense scores twice I guess??
We are going to be better rested but still not full strength for sure. I have not seen who will play and who will not. Coach Day likes to keep everyone guessing until the whistle blows!
Plenty of talk that we'll get to see Jaxon back really for the first time all season but, Day doesn't give away alot, so we're truly only guessing.....we know he has been practicing. I'm optimistic, love to see him get some work and get back in rhythm with CJ and the boys. Similarly with the running backs, uncertain but plenty of chatter that both will be ready to go
I do not see Jaxon playing Saturday. Maybe the following week? More concerned about running back Williams.
UGA,Ohio St, Michigan, and Tennessee are all either off or might as well be. 5. I picked Clemson but this might be a really good game. Syracuse has not really played anyone yet, though. 6. Alabama vs Miss. State. Who knows. If Alabama gets into another shooting match, then 15 penalties and/or 4 turnovers could equal another high-scoring loss. Alabama put themselves into a single elimination situation so it is what it is. 7. Ole Miss/LSU might be a good one. LSU will have to keep up with Ole Miss offense though. 11. Oklahoma St./Texas should be another really good game.
Funny Video from am Al.com reporter on the field in the middle of the meelee. And of course SEC Shorts.
I'll tell you what, I think that it is quite a tribute to Alabama that Tennessee is celebrating to this extent over a regular season win. I mean wow! My granddaughter said there were Tennessee fans arrested in Tuscaloosa this week for pranks on campus. It just emphasizes how important the Alabama game is.to everyone we play.
When you are King of the hill like Alabama has been and a long time rival who used to be competitive with you and then goes into a tailspin like the Vols in this rivalry to the point it didn't feel like a rivalry anymore... A dramatic home win like that is going to trigger the rushing of the field. Did they rush the field when they beat the Gators who were once equal rivals but had dominated the Vols for quite a while?
I don't know the answer to that, Terry. All I know is that, I don't remember Alabama fans rushing the field after a regular season game. It may have happened, I guess, but I don't remember it. Then, taking down the goal posts and carrying them out of the stadium? I'm pretty sure that has never happened at Bryant-Denny. Anyway, on to Mississippi State. Could be an interesting game.
Nobody has ever rushed the field at Alabama. That says a lot about your domination of all your rivals. I wonder if there are other teams whose fans have never rushed the field? I wonder if Nebraska fans have ever rushed the field? Michigan or Ohio State fans?
I'm not sure if Alabama has NEVER rushed the field. I just know I don't remember it. I think Corey found a video of Alabama rushing the field after a bowl game back in the 70's so I'm sure it has probably happened in Ttown some time but not in a very long time. Also we have gone on bad streaks against Tennessee, LSU and Auburn (they are our rivals, sorry MCG) but I don't remember rushing the field after ending the drought. I know there are fans on the field after championship games but I think that they are let onto the field for the presentations.
Well another solid teammate has quit on his team, Brendon Evers the Oklahoma State starting DL, has quit to prepare for the NFL combine/draft. Oh of course he thanked everybody. Thank you Cowboy Nation for some of the best years a kid could ask for," Evers posted on Twitter. "... Sometimes God has a different plan than the one you originally thought." Evers, a sixth-year player with 26 career starts and 53 career appearances, wrote that he had consulted with his family and Oklahoma State's coaches and medical staff.
