UGA struggles a bit with Kent State. Lots of turnovers make it closer than it should have been. Alabama has a complete game against Vandy. Wide receivers finally show up and Young took advantage of it. The bigger tests come in the next 4 weeks. Lots of fluke wins in OT yesterday. Auburn and Harsin ridiculously lucky. It amazes me.
Very impressive start. Stroud/offense looked very dynamic and efficient early against a historically very good defense. Jury still out on Wisky I guess, but I was pleased to see how well we handled the line of scrimmage against a very physical Wisky front - tho in fairness I understand they were missing their 2 starting OT. While I'm thrilled to see how the other WR have stepped up and our newest secret weapon "Farmer Gronk" I am hopeful we can get JSN back and healthy before too long I am becoming increasingly concerned about looming depth issues in the secondary. We only have 4 "true" corners on scholly as I understand it and both starters were a no go for Wisky leaving us with 2 babies at corner and nothing but converted safeties and walk-ons behind. Not optimal
I was very impressed with the Wake Forest QB. The lad was dropping dimes while getting hit quite often.
I've seen Sam Hartman play a lot, he is a good college QB who fits that offense very well. He had a great year last year, but Wake pretty much has to out score you to win. Defense hasn't been great under the current coach.
Re the A&M game, I’m 67 and don’t recall seeing before a field goal attempt bounce off the top of the uprights.
LOL...Watched him play HS bball and football...he went to our local HS (Lexington) where FlaBucks, John Deere, and Boondock Muskies graduated from (albeit a few years ago). Never really thought of him as a farmer but I guess he did grow up on a big family farm. I think that's Cade in the bottom family picture; Stover Farms (@stover_farms) • Instagram photos and videos
Bob, what makes that even crazier is when you consider the momentum of the ball is all toward the stands... and yet it hit perfectly angled to bounce BACK to the field. I believe that would have been called no good in any case.
Scott, you are right, the ball has to be inside the uprights. Read today that NFL uprights are 5 feet taller than college. So playing in Jerry’s World at least saved the Aggies from having the FG decided by the refs or replay officals.
Ga Tech has reportedly fired not just HC Geoff Collins but also Athletic Director Todd Stansbury who hired him in the first place! Yellow Jackets have been bad since Paul Johnson retired.
Tip of the iceberg, or isolated case? High School players and their families looking to get paid. Top 2024 defensive prospect T. A. Cunningham moved from Georgia to Southern California. Cunningham's move to California was set into motion after representatives from Levels Sports Group, a would-be sports marketing company, sold the Cunningham family on the idea that they would be able to secure him marketing opportunities if he was playing California, where it is legal for high school athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness. "The Levels Team promised that the Cunningham family would have a home, transportation and meals in California," according to the injunction filed on Cunningham's behalf. "A promise was even made that the Levels Team would provide a separate home in Georgia for [Cunningham's] mother." Top DE prospect from GA green lit to play in CA
Sid, Yes. I don’t think a lot of viewers will be attracted to watching a game where the featured stars are the punters.
