John in flip flops but without his customary cigarette might be closer material.

Astros clinch the ALW tonight with a 4-0 shutout of the Ray's in Tampa. How sweet it is.

Looks like all the divisions are locked up except the NLE where the Mets and Braves are going to take it to the end.

Funny how certain pitchers who aren't great get your number. Kyle Bradish of the Orioles, shut the Astros out in late August and he's back again today throwing a 1 hit shutout. While overall he's 3-7 with a 5.05 era and tonight he's beating Verlander.

    Guardiac Kids. :D

Kyle Bradish: He showed up in my fantasy league as one of the hottest pitchers in the past 30 days, an indicator I use in contemplating roster moves. I looked at his season long stats and passed. I may go back and consider him when he's facing the Astros. :D

So what will Judges 61 and 62 balls be worth? If he hits them? Funny article on The Athletic on this. It's possible that he'll hit them into the bullpen and those guys will hold him up for some loot for sure!

It would be a relief for everyone involved in the procurement of the baseball if Judge hit his next two home runs to Monument Park, where it could land safely in the netting and be snagged by ballpark security without fan intervention. The next safest place for it to land would be in either of the bullpens, where relievers have joked about creating a dog pile amongst themselves to get to the ball.

“We don’t want him to hit it against us, but we have all joked about it,” said Red Sox reliever Matt Strahm. “We were like, maybe we could ask for iPads? Why would we ask for iPads. We all have iPads. Maybe we could ask him to buy a Rolex and then we all draw names for it? It’s a big piece of history.”

He sent one toward Monument Park last night but the wind was in his face and it was caught on the track.

If Pujhols hits 700 I wonder if that will get drowned out by Judge hitting 62?

Boy do the Orioles have our number. Right now they are out of the Wildcard race, but I have to hope that it stays that way and that either the Rays,Jays or Mariners don't crash and let the O's sneak in ...that'd be bad for the Astros.

In five games against the Orioles this season, the Astros have scored a combined four runs while losing two of three games at Minute Maid Park and the first two games of a four-game series this week at Camden Yards. On Friday, they lost 6-0 after managing just four hits and two walks in nine innings against Baltimore starter Dean Kremer.

Thursday and Friday marked the first time this season the Astros have been shut out in back-to-back games.

Baltimore’s pitching has seemingly mystified Houston this season. In four of the five games against the Orioles, the Astros have faced Kremer and Kyle Bradish twice each. Austin Voth started the other game for the Orioles.

"Tribe" clinches division today. Were tied with Twins 3 weeks ago after 5 straight losses. Since then have gone 18-3. 7-1 against Twins and 3-1 against White Sox during that time.

Thanks, AJ. I'm not certain exactly how many, but most ML catchers are not behind the plate for their entire careers, Many, even some of the great ones, finish their careers at another position. In my opinion, Yadi belongs in the HOF, not just for his consistently great performance at and behind the plate, but for his unyielding dedication to his craft. I love that Adam Wainwright narrated that video.

Sis is correct. Johnny Bench played 3B, 1B and LF late in his career. And he was only around 35 when he hung 'em up . He said he wanted to walk golf courses when he retired and he knew too many former catchers who could not.
