He was the Purdue QB in the mid 50s when I was a 9-10 yr. old kid and loved Purdue, my Dad's alma mater (hated ND). I thought he was the greatest QB in the world. I followed his pro career.
    R.I.P. Mr. Dawson :(

I was a big fan of his KC Chiefs squad that won the Super Bowl.

    RIP.

Dawson was born June 20, 1935, the ninth of 11 children who filled the house of James and Annie Dawson in the blue-collar manufacturing town of Alliance, Ohio. He was a three-sport athlete at Alliance High School, setting records in football and basketball, and turned his success on the gridiron into a scholarship offer from Purdue.

There, Dawson led the NCAA in passing efficiency as a sophomore while also playing defense and kicking, and he helped lead a memorable upset of Notre Dame during the 1954 season. By the end of his college career, Dawson had thrown for more than 3,000 yards despite playing in an era that favored ground-and-pound football, and was chosen by the Steelers in the first round of the 1957 draft.

Wow! ninth of 11 children. Also played defense and was a kicker. Truly all purpose. Thanks, Terry.

Only thing that could make this pic better is if that Fresca bottle was a Budweiser or something similar!

Looks like the arrival of Huskers fans in Dublin is causing significant confusion for Husker fans and Dubliners.

Is there a more embarrassing 1st game than FSU taking on Duquesne? They probably could send out the walkons and still win.

In another embarrassing game, the Florida A&M Rattlers go to UNC, down 20 players due to eligibility issues and will only have 7 OL available.

The players initially didn't want to go play with the squad down 20 players. Then after a meeting with the University leadership including the President they decided to play.

I am sure those leaders never mentioned forfeiting the 450K they were guaranteed for taking a beating.

I think you missed it Tim. Only thing sharper than BuckeyeT's wit is the edge of his pitching Wedge when he blades it over the green! :D

    Yeah, I get it.

The NC and Florida A&M game irks me a little. I was hoping to see them give NC a game so I could get an idea of what they look like as we play them a few weeks from now but obviously that ain't gonna happen. That whole thing sounds crazy to me though.

Well I didn't get the result I wanted or needed for my pick with Northwestern winning. So I am off to 0-1 in our contest.

I remember when we were hiring a new football coach several years ago most Gator fans wanted Frost. But he wanted to go back to Nebraska and we hired Mullen. Didn't work out for us, but I was sure Frost would be successful at Nebraska. But so far not so.

I was sure they would win today but it wasn't to be. To bad, he seems like a good coach.
