At the height of her career, not sure why she visited the Braves. But she's out of Niekro's league!! RIP Olivia Newton John.
Albert just hit HR 687....4th all time...closing in on 2nd place total bases all time...GUESS WHO'S 2ND PLACE SID....3rd all time RBI's....I could go on, but what's the point. If this guy isn't unanimous 1st Ballot, there's definitely something wrong.
Field of Dreams 2 is tonight on Fox 6 pm CDT Cubs vs Reds. Not sure I quite get the fascination with this but it attracted a lot of viewers last year, so I'm sure it will continue if the $$ continues to flow into MLB coffers.
It's off the radar for 2023 due to construction around the Field of Dreams (sports complex, etc.). It may come back after that.
Well it's not unexpected. Brantley gone for the year. Astros will miss his bat and leadership. I hope he recovers and is back with the Astros next year, even though the speculation is that he won't be back.
I hope they, 1) retain the ML field on which last night's game was played, and 2) retain the ambiance by keeping the surrounding corn in place. I'm guessing - hoping - they will. It's integral to the uniqueness of the site. Otherwise, it would become like any other sports complex.
See who's in first? Hank Aaron might have that record permanently. 6854 total bases. Willie May's at 4th. Now that's good company.
Thanks, Stu. I say, Good for Iowa. They know what's best for their state and for the site. I'm all in favor of maximizing the draw of the site. It appears from the artist's rendering toward the end of the article that they plan to maintain the essential characteristics of the sight lines from the stands, which was my hope as I described in my earlier post. I hope the intended project is successful.
What adult millionaire gets ringworm? Fernando Tatis of course? As you heard, Fernando Tatis Jr. tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug and is out 80 games. HUGE blow to the Padres who were about to get their superstar back. Immediately after the news came out we got the same BS excuse and apology from Tatis Jr. who said he was taking Clostebol to treat ringworm. There's only one problem. According to Rany Jazayerli, a Chicago dermatologist, you don't use Clostebol to treat ringworm. He said they would prescribe Clobetasol in other cases but that is a drug that would make ringworm worse...so you would never use it to treat ringworm. It's a completely different drug, not a great excuse from FTJ if that is what he is sticking to. Jazayerli basically came out saying this excuse is BS because it is. If you're taking clobetasol, which is a topical steroid, you wouldn't have an anabolic steroid like clostebol show up in your drug test. It's simple. It almost sounds like someone in Tatis Jr's camp googled "clostebol" and google said "do you mean clobetasol instead" and they just ran with it. Not great!
Not just the payroll...Yesterday a kid Curry was brought up from the minors to pitch for his major league debut...he is the 14th Guardian rookie to make his major league debut this year. Average age of all AAA teams is 26.2. Average age of Cleveland Guardians is 24.6. We're no Yankees or Astros but the kids play hard and are fun to watch. And 2.5 games in first place. Not sure they can keep it up through the dog days of summer, but hey... It's a tribute to Cleveland's scouting, minor league development, and Tito and his staff's ability to coach these young kids well. Two days ago Cleveland was ahead 8-0 and rookie Oscar Gonzalez ran like hell down the line to beat out an infield hit but was called out on a close play. Tito asked for a review (and of course was booed by the Toronto crowd). After the game he went up and told the ump that the last thing he wanted to do was show up the umpire while having a big lead, but they are trying to get the kids to hustle and play all out and he felt that Gonzales should be backed up by his manager for playing the right way.
Definitely kudos to the Indians, I was shocked when I saw the payroll. Is Cleveland really a smaller market than say the Cardinals who have double the payroll
