I am visiting my brother and he watches a ton of Fox News and one of the topics has been the mess that is NYC. Businesses are letting thugs just walk in and shoplift on the theory that it puts their employees at risk to try and stop them, and if they do take action they might be held responsible for harm to the shoplifter. No win situation that has resulted in the Spam being locked up along with toothpaste and other items. Thugs being released on no bail repeatedly, trash in the streets, citizens are not safe even in daylight. It's not just NYC though, and while I see headlines that seem to say it's mostly democrat cities, but an actual Fox Contributor said that it's all across the country and not just Democrat controlled cities. A lot of these DA's are beneficiaries of the support of George Soros.
A lesser reported but very troubling is a new law in NY that requires the prosecutors to disclose to the defendants the names and addresses of ALL witnesses to the crime including the victim. Imagine an elderly individual who's been mugged or a woman who's been raped being told that their name and address are being given the the attorney for the criminal. This no surprise, has resulted in fewer REPORTED crimes. Growing up in NYC I used to ride the subway all the time. Can't believe what a shitshow it's become.
New York City is a disaster. Rudy Giuliani, before he went crazy with Trump fever did an outstanding job of cleaning up Times Square, beefing up the police presence, sweeping the bums and crazies off the sidewalks and made the city a great place to visit. Bloomberg came after him and mostly held serve during his tenure, And then came avowed socialist Warner Wilhelm ( Bill DeBlasio ) who tore everything down, made the cops the bad guys and the bad guys the victims, opened up the jails and mental facilities and returned the human vermin to the streets and basically surrendered the city to the predators. Now it is an absolute open drug bazaar 24/7 and violent criminals prey on innocents without fear of retribution. Its dirty, disease ridden, reeks of pot which is openly sold on sidewalks with police standing nearby and generally as unsafe as Syria or Iran. New Mayor Eric Adams is a nice guy, former cop who so far is totally over matched by the **** show DiBlasio handed him. Cross it off your list.
When things used to be this way, didnt the "Good Fellas" keep everybody in check? Better watch out folks, things have a habit of repeating themselves in this country.
The wise guys kept everything squared away. They did not tolerate any funny business anywhere they lived or socialized. Little Italy in lower Manhattan was the safest place on earth for decades. You could park your car with the keys in the ignition. Virtually no petty crime.
