Revenue sharing could answer the equity question. The big stars probably won't settle for that though.
I get Alabama getting the Lions share of the votes with Georgia 2nd, but Vandy and A&M getting the same # of votes, or Vandy even getting 1 vote. South Carolina getting 3rd place, I know Beamer did a nice job last year and has a former Hot Shot transfer QB in Spencer Rattler... But come on. Alabama is the runaway favorite to win the SEC football title for a third consecutive season, according to a media poll released Friday. The Crimson Tide received 158 of 181 votes to win the conference title. Georgia was next closest with 18 votes, South Carolina received three votes, and Vanderbilt and Texas A&M tied with one vote each.
2015 Alabama staff. That season, Nick Saban's staff included six current Power 5 head coaches in offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin (now at Ole Miss), defensive coordinator Kirby Smart (Georgia), position coaches Mel Tucker (Michigan State), Mario Cristobal (Miami) and Billy Napier (Florida) and graduate assistant Dan Lanning (Oregon).
If this all comes true, when will there be a draft of High School players? Among the significant changes expected in the coming years are a diminished role for the NCAA, an expansion of the College Football Playoff, continued realignment and, ultimately, a pay-for-play model that would treat players as employees. Nearly 80% of respondents believe schools will pay athletes directly within the next decade. Nearly 75% think the sport will eventually follow some sort of professional model, perhaps with schools forming conferences based on their willingness to pay players. And virtually everyone (98%) thinks more realignment is in store -- sooner than later. What is the future of college football? Over 200 coaches, players and administrators respond
It'll happen. Can't say when, but if they are paying ala the NFL, then they will use a draft to make things "equitable"... Makes me kinda glad I'm going to get booted from my current seats due to suite construction. I think that's my line in the sand. Once I see them going full on NFL, I'll be able to walk away and say "well it was fun while it lasted..." Hoping this doesn't infect baseball too much. I enjoy that, and we are relevant again!
If.that.comes.to.pass, I will probably join you. On the other hand, there are other events that may make me walk away too.
Now it was awhile ago, but Father Jenkins (ND President) commented one time that if it came to paying the players as employees that the Irish were out as a competitor in big time football.
