Good info Bob. I am hoping that young Carr comes to ND and he appears to be a good fit for ND. It just seems strange that given his family background that he would not choose UM. Of course given that he is a 2024 kid and can't sign a LOI till Dec 2023 so as with all these kids it's not over till you get their signature. One thing I don't think we will have to worry about is his family looking for the most NIL money. That's been the word on 2023 QB target Dante Moore.
Terry, years ago, Carr, then an asst. coach at M, nearly left M to coach under Holtz at ND. Blue Books: Holtz Courting Lloyd Carr — MVictors.com - Michigan Football History Also recall Holtz attending a highly publicized fundraiser for a foundation established in honor of Carr’s deceased grandson. It might be a situation of the young man wanting to start on a new trial and the family being comfortable with the path he wants to take. Given the craziness with H that took place just after M had its most successful season in 2 decades, certainly understandable why he might choose to look elsewhere.
It's official, CJ Carr, is Irish. I really love what Coach Rees is doing with the quarterbacks there and also what Coach Freeman is doing with the whole program,” Carr said. “Those are probably the two most positive reasons.” Carr is the grandson of longtime Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr and the son of former Michigan quarterback Jason Carr, but those connections weren’t really factors in his ultimate decision. “They just wanted me to go where I felt the most comfortable,” Carr said of his father and grandfather. “I never really wanted to go to school inside of Michigan. “I kind of wanted to leave my hometown and blaze my own path. I think Notre Dame's the perfect place to do that.”
Well you know how crazy the internet can be and the latest crazy rumor being tossed around in that a 5 star QB from Michigan is commiting to ND. As big a ND fan as I am I'm not stupid enough to be sucked into this stuff. I mean, he's Lloyd Carr's grandson for Christ sake, he's the son of a former Mich QB and a 5 star QB. Come on man be real. Maybe we will be lucky with the other QB from Mich(Dante Moore) but I'm not falling for this.
It might be “ official “ but it’s not certain until he’s enrolled. Meanwhile it keeps ND from getting Moore. If he changes his mind ND is left with no top QBs. Am I the only one worried?
Mike I don't think Dante Moore was ever going to come, everything I have heard is his dad wants a big NIL deal for him to consider a verbal. It's being speculated that Freeman told him that and that they were dropping out of the competition for his verbal.
Wow! I’m sure a month or so I was reading how ND was one of his top picks. Actually knowing he was from a Detroit school I felt education was not going to be the selling point.
You are right, back in the early spring many thought that Moore was somewhat of a lock for ND, that he really liked the school, Marcus Freeman and Tommy Rees. A lot of people thought he would comit on an official visit in June, but then the NIL money became a deal for his dad and that started driving the bus. As soon as dad saw the money that kid got from Tenn and how much USC paid Caleb Williams to transfer from OU, it became the driving force in the kids recruitment.
We are all new to professional football at the "college" level and all the nuances that come with that. The Moore kid's old man is laser focused on the here and now money so what the kid may want is secondary. You have to go with the kid who actually acted on his word. I see the Ohio State QB is now driving a Benz that retails for six figures the Texas QB Ewers is driving some top shelf British sports car. Going forward I doubt if many of these top shelf players will ever grace a classroom.
Elijah Paige OT commits to ND. Just for reference had offers from likes of Wis, Stan, mich, usc, wash, ucla aaaaaaaand mich st.
All Time Notre Dame great Bryant Young has a son who plays football and was offered by the Irish. He's not a DL like pops...being recruited as a LB.
Irish pick up a top ranked TE for 2024, Jack Larsen a 4* from Charlotte Catholic verbals to ND. Welcome to TE - U
