I liked it as well, and I think the reaction amongst fans/alumni was very good. But I do wonder if it really makes an impact on the recruit. It seems like they are looking at depth charts to see how fast they might make the starting lineup, they are looking at NIL opportunities, they are looking at how many players have been developed at their position for the NFL draft. Video, yeah that's nice but what are you going to do for me as far as getting me to the NFL. I've heard that the kid who got 8M from the Tenn Collective to sign with the Vols, came through ND with a entourage including a financial advisor to check out what we offered. Obviously that's only going to be for the Highly recruited 5 star type of kids, but it's happening. Dante Moore the Michigan QB that is top of the list for the Irish, is doing a tour and is interested in what the various schools are offering for NIL. He's not coming to ND for the 40 year stuff.
Irish Baseball beat Michigan last night 14-5. Always good to beat those guys even if it's in Tiddly Winks!
Everything I read about him is very good, nice addition to the RB room. Tyree, Diggs, Estime, Price and the new guy. Not much experience though. Tyree has been a bit injury problem, Diggs did have 8 games and 52 carries While Estime only had 7 caries. Price and Payne of course freshman They will of course be behind a much improved OL and in theory at least a better coached OL. Hopefully the bowl game running game was an aberration.
A lot of internet posters think that Tyree might be better off at slot, he is probably the fastest player on the team and does have good hands
I'm hesitant to criticize anyone, much less a Notre Dame student-athlete, but from what I've see of Tyree on the field, I'm not at all impressed with him as a RB. He doesn't run with power. He has no leg drive after the first hit, and as fast as he is, he rarely beats the defensive pursuit on outside run plays, primarily because he doesn't seem to have instant acceleration or the instincts to know when to make sharp 90-degree cuts up field. I'm aware from the successful runs I've seen that he has excellent north-south speed, which enables him often to get into the open field ahead of the defense. Personally, I feel he should at least be tried as a slot receiver or wideout.
Irish lost a 4-star CB, Jusystn Rhett, from their 2023 class. While I have no knowledge of why he decided to move on, I would imagine this might be more common going forward for kids who commit early to any team. As they look around they might see opportunities for NIL deals that their current school doesn't have or isn't offering and decide that they need to see where they can make more money. I think it's pretty well established that high profile players are more and more factoring in NIL to where they decide to go to school. Obviously there are other reasons, as well.
Yeah it has always happened. I've said it before, these kids will break your heart. That's why I don't even pay attention until October or November. I agree NIL will make this worse.
I'm of the same mind. I'm aware what's happening in recruiting, but I don't take it seriously until they show up on campus.
So while it hasn't happened, but it's being predicted that Lloyd Carr's grandson who is a 5 star 2024 QB will cast his future with Notre Dame. I am beyond shocked to say the least, I always thought Carr had a certain dislike of the ND. Of course it's thought that the probability that the young Carr comes to Notre Dame likely means that ND 2023 target, Dante Moore will be going some other place.
