Time for a new topic on baseball now that Spring Training is opening and the regular season is assured.

    Astros issues.

    1. What will we get from Justin Verlander.
    2. Can Bregman. return to not only health but to be the productive player he has been in the past.
    3. Lance McCullers, will he be available at all this year he's not ready yet.
    4. Carlos Correa. Nobody has made him the big offer he wants,, some talk he may return on a 1 year deal.

Zack Grienke at 39 with a 60mph curve ball and who knows if he can even throw a fast ball...signs with KC for 13 million dollars. I guess that says all you need to know about the plight of the poor guys playing baseball, so mistreated.

Dodgers just beefed up their All Star team with Freddie Freeman. What is their payroll? It has to be an all time record.

Well nice start for Verlander, 2 innings of no hit ball vs the Cardinals. Very incouraging.

So are fans going to treat the Yankees like they treat the Astros?

They didn't win the World Series. Red Sox were also nailed and fans left them alone.

I got it. So it's ok to cheat only if you can't capitalize on the cheating?;)

Hope he's still got a swing like Will Smith at the Oscar's last night!

If they do a movie about Juwan Howard, I think I know who will play Juwan.

His retirement victory tour a la Coach K. Good for him and good for the Cardinals for signing him. He needs 21 more HR to reach the exclusive 700 Club. He'll be in the HOF some day.

Opening Day! Astros on the road vs the Angels and Ohtani. Astros have new guy as SS in Jeremey Pena but the rest of the lineup is vets from last year. Big question for the team this year will be can Justin Verlander be the power pitcher he was before the Tommy John surgery. He had an encouraging spring and he says he's prepared himself to go 200-250 innings this year. If he can do that it will go a long way to making this team a contender.

I see that the usually parsimonious Cleveland Guardians (hate that new name) have opened up the wallet and paid their all-star Jose Ramirez big bucks to keep him. Astro fans are glad they didn't do that to keep Michael Brantley who again will be a critical piece of the Astros puzzle.

Opening Day without the Dodger Dog is tough. Jim liked all of the major sports but Baseball was his passion and we'll all miss his wisdom.

I could be wrong but my impression is that Jose had a desire to stay in Cleveland. He got a big contract that will be good for him and good for the Tribe...but I'm not sure Michael Brantley had that same attachment (no bad reflection on him...he is a great guy and a great teammate from what I hear).
