Looks like it going to be a rough week for the Players. In a delay now and expectations are for worse weather tomorrow.
What a change for this area of FL from last week. At Bay Hill the temps were in the mid to high 80s. When it finally clears up at the Players the high for Sun. is predicted to be 55. If they have to go on Mon. it will warm up to near 70.
Brutal Conditions right now at the Players, some players will not even play today because of they have to finish the 1st round.
#17 ate up golf balls today with the wind. JT hit a knock down 6, when the distance called for a 9 iron just to get under the wind. They still haven't finished the 2nd round, they will send them off at 8 am in 30's with 20 mph winds. They won't finish the 3rd round tomorrow and they will have to play on Monday to get in the full 72 holes.
Bubba Watson was also bogey free and those two are in the clubhouse at - 3 technically the leaders as everyone in front of them has not completed their 2nd round and are going out tomorrow in more brutal conditions.
Big surprise in the Big Ten Tournament with Iowa beating Purdue. They will drop to a 3 seed for sure.
Fun afternoon, Shane Lowrey got a hole in one on #17. Luck of the Irish! Leader board is interesting it's tight but really no big name players up there. It's wide open, they finish the 3rd round tomorrow morning and start and finish the final round on Monday afternoon.
That was quite an exciting finish yesterday, Smith certainly had that hot putter going for him and after making that great shot on #17 put it in doubt by hitting a ball in the water on 18. But Lahir couldn't take advantage. Even though they touted this as the strongest field in golf, that leader board was bereft of the top draws on the Tour, no Jon Rahm, no Rory, no Xander, no Colin, no JT, no Brooks, No Tony, not Jordan. A lot of those didn't even make the cut. Dustin Johnson was the only big draw who was in the top 10.
I don't know but he may just have to ease back into the Seniors tour. By the way, I got tickets to Monday's practice round in the lottery this year so I will be able to not see him.
WGC is in Austin for the Dell Technologies Match Play event. It's always an interesting event with the way they have pods and it starts on Wed. You can lose a match in your pod and still advance, rather than being a single elimination. Rough weather yesterday through this morning in Texas don't really know if they had any damage to the course in Austin though.
Yeah I have participated in the lottery every year for the last 10 years or so and these are my first tickets. Hopefully the hills of central Alabama have kept me in shape. There are two very good municipal courses here. One is very hilly and the other is pretty flat. The local RTJ Golf Trail courses have some hills but they require a cart so it doesnt matter.
