This season has been so crazy that it you told me it would me Michigan vs Cincy in the final I would probably believe you.
I'm pleased to be going to the Fiesta Bowl vs Oklahoma State. I thought it would be Michigan State though. Should be a good game.
I have to say that I really hate the whole named sponsors of college bowl games. I see that the Gators are in the Gasparilla Bowl, what the hell is that? Last time the Irish were in the Fiesta Bowl vs Ohio State it was the Battle Frog Fiesta Bowl. What hell is a Battle Frog? I liked it when it was just the Alamo Bowl, or the Holiday Bowl, the Citrus Bowl, etc! Now get off my lawn!
Fiesta Bowl (1971–1985, 1991–1992) Sunkist Fiesta Bowl (1986–1990) IBM OS/2 Fiesta Bowl (1993–1995) Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (1996–January 2014) Vizio Fiesta Bowl (December 2014) BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl (January 2016)
Last Irish major bowl win? 1994 Cotton Bowl 24 - 21 late FG by Jim Sanson. Lee Becton was the MVP. A&M Qb Corey Pulling was heavily recruited by Note Dame. A&M started the season @#5 and their only loss was a non-conference game vs Oklahoma. They beat Missouri 73-0 the next week and later in the season beat TCU 59 - 3. They beat Texas on Turkey Day 18-9. Irish had dropped a heart breaker to B. C. on a FG. Killing the chance at a National Championship.
Just had to post that twice, eh? Corey Pullig was a game-manager type QB. Very steady, but you weren't getting any superstar plays from him. As I recall that was a pretty good game, we just ran out of time.
