    RIP Coach. I loved the guy as a coach and commentator. I don't know of any TV football commentator today who can come close to matching his personality and knowledge.

    Interesting question AJ. after reading the above comments, I did some soul searching and came to realize I became disenchanted with the NFL and the strikes and lock outs back in the early 80s. I just ignored the games for years, did not watch the Super Bowls, etc. No question Madden was a unique individual, coach and sports commentator. RIP

    Like Don I was a big Madden fan. But I haven't watched the NFL in five years. The game is too politicized and scripted for me. I don't think even Madden could dress up today's NFL.
