We looked solid against Wisconsin today, will play Kentucky in Las Vegas, next Saturday in the CBS Sports Classic
If Kentucky shoots the 3 ball in Vegas like they did yesterday in South Bend, you guys should beat them. They do have a good big man who can score when they get the ball inside to him, he's not big like 7' though.
Purdue down 8 with 3 or 4 min left to NC State. Pull out a 10 pt win in OT. Gotta pick it up earlier.
North Carolina State led that game most of the way with a ten plus lead. Purdue came on strong in the last few minutes and then devoured the Wolf Pack in OT.Great game to watch, Williams was a warrior.
Baylor, last years Nat'l Champions will be the new #1. I wonder how long they will last, nearly impossible for a team to go undefeated, Bears are 9-0 right now. But they have a tough B12 schedule starting 1-1 with a game vs undefeated Iowa State. Between now and then the schedule isn't very strong. B12 has some really good teams this season.
The season is a month old and already we've had 4 number one teams. Lots of room to move up....and down.
That's the good thing about College Basketball, due to the tourney it's not really much of an advantage to be ranked in the top 10. Sure you get a good seed, but it's better to be hot at the end, those teams that can get healthy and on a roll can go far.
In the final edition of the Crossroads Classic, not sure why it won't continue, ND faces IU and Purdue faces Butler.
Maybe because it was the brainchild of Morgan Burke, at Purdue...who is now 3-7 in the tournament. Actually it seems like it's scheduling issues; Popular Crossroads Classic Basketball Event Ending in December
Thanks for the article Stu, looks like ND and IU are the reason for the end of the event. Bobinski, a ND grad, called out the Hoosiers and the Irish.
COVID-19 hitting the college basketball world pretty hard right now, a lot of games are getting canceled. I wonder if it will hit bowl teams, games start this week.
Both Ohio State and UCLA have canceled games in the CBS Sports Classic this Saturday due to COVID issues. We were to play Kentucky and North Carolina was scheduled to play UCLA.
I watched some of the North Carolina-Kentucky last night. The Kentucky I saw play was not the Kentucky that lost to Notre Dame. Maybe our COVID issues saved my Buckeyes some embarrassment as well?
Kentucky was just incredibly cold from 3 point and that gave the Irish the opening to stay with them and win at the end. Yesterday IU beat ND in the Crossroads Classic, cold shooting by the Irish doomed them. IU shot 40 % from the 3 point line while we shot 18 %. They outshot us overall as well. This is looking like another bleak year for ND, I had some hope to start the season but we haven't won a game except Kentucky, against good competition.
From ESPN story on Seton Hall having to forfeit their Big East game vs St. Johns due to Covid At least 20 men's basketball games and 36 women's basketball games have been canceled or postponed this season because of COVID-19 protocols as of Friday afternoon. It is a number that seems sure to grow as the nation grapples with a surge in coronavirus cases.
Yesterday's Crossroad Classic game was the first time I've seen ND play. We clearly have good talent capable of competing with anyone. Part of the reason for the loss, IMO, was IU's defense. Unfortunately, another reason was our lack of strength in our inside game, a consistent shortcoming over the years, occasionally offset by the special post players who come along all too rarely. IMO, we're just not a tough, determined team. We'll win if our shooting is on. Otherwise, we're toast. Just my penny's worth. P.S. Like most fans, I always have loved Mike Brey. Still do.
Hard not to like Mike Brey and I hope he gets it turned around as you noted we do have some talent and a very talented freshman in Wesley. I hope it all comes together for Mike and the team.
