I see that the pipeline issues are severely impacting the East Coast, I've read that lines are long if you can even find a gas station with fuel. I'm going to Vero Beach to visit my sister on Thursday, I hope she's got a full tank of gas!! You Fla guys seeing any problems. It seems to be really bad in North Carolina.
Hacking a system like that is a direct threat. Wonder if anybody in this administration has the intenstinal fortitude to return serve and then some.
Terry I've read in local BBs about some stations not having any gas. I filled up my golf cart today so I'm good for a while. The golf cart gas stations seem to be well supplied. I think as the shortage gets more play on the news it will snowball. People will be trying to top off. As far as I know gas is still available at 80-90% of stations. Best bet may be the plazas on the turnpike. BTW you're probably driving right by the villages on your trip. You're always welcome to visit for a hour or a couple of days.
Doing some research it seems that most of Fla will be ok, Orlando and South get their gas from barges and ships not pipelines.
Went to three gas stations yesterday to find one that still had gas. Today when out I saw where one of the two that was closed yesterday is open today. It seems this crisis will be pretty short lived but a pain for a short time. One of our daughters is supposed to go camping near Chattanooga next week. We have a non refundable hotel reservation for one night to spend a couple of days with them. Hopping we are able. But time will tell. Just talked to her and the trip is still on.
I enjoyed my long weekend in Vero Beach, it's a very nice community. Played some golf, windy golf, and had some nice food in restaurants/cafe's by the beach. Most of my sisters friends are snowbirds and they were all planning on going North this week. It's the end of the season. She said almost 50% of their development leave sometime in May for their homes in the North. She's leaving for Hull MA next week. The Golf club she belongs to in Vero is about 40% Snowbirds. Her golf club in MA opened about a month ago from the winter shutdown. One of the couples I met had been planning on leaving last Saturday for the Mountains of North Carolina and delayed leaving due to the Gas situation.
Gas is significantly more expensive but all the stations I drove by today were open. Hoping for the same tomorrow so we can fill up for our trip Wednesday and Thursday.
Looks like no natural gas shortage in Germany now that the Biden administration is lifting sanctions in connection with the building of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. A couple of months ago both the Biden press secretary and the Sec. of State nominee were opposed to the building of this pipeline because it weakens Ukraine and makes Germany more dependent on Russia for its energy needs. Think of the hypocrisy of Biden who shitcanned the Keystone pipeline because of "environmental" concerns but has no problem with a Russian pipeline. The same folks who constantly claimed Trump was a Putin puppet are bending over and taking it from Putin.
I'll be interested to hear Dave's take on this, maybe he can get off of posting only about Trump and get on to posting about his man Biden and what's currently going on in the world.
Just ordered in 3,000 gallons of diesel and 800 of gasoline without any issues in SW Florida. Son is off on Sunday heading to the Georgia mountains for his honeymoon and real concern that he needs to be aware that Georgia pumps are still 40% off from normal
You are a dreamer Terry if you think Dave will ever get off posting about Trump and/or Republicans. It seems to be in his DNA.
Bill a dear family friend is giving him access to his house in Sky Valley as a wedding present. Then he heads towards Savannah then onto St Augustine. The wife and I are heading to his wedding rehearsal in 30 minutes. We are in downtown Lakeland where he is to be married tomorrow. I kinda love Lakeland, it’s pretty and growing incredibly
Okay my friends, I need a few prayers/// I have unfortunately stuttered since I’ve been 8 years old and my son has honored me to read more than a few Bible versus out of the book of Romans in front of the church during his wedding tomorrow (He has no idea how spoiled his grandchildren will be, lol). Please say a prayer that the Lord will be honored in the end...
Congrats Ralph re your son’s marriage. Also, having a trait shared by Winston Churchill, King George VI, and James Earl Jones is keeping pretty good company.
Very familiar with that area Ralph. About a half hour from my house in Franklin NC. Right on the border of NC and Ga. Great part of the country.
Good luck Ralph although I know you won't need it. Your kids wedding is one of the more enjoyable times in you life. (Sons more than daughters...it's cheaper.)
