I’m anxious to see the Blue and Gold game this weekend for the Irish. More than I have been in a while. Maybe because we didn’t have one last year. Anyway, I started watching some of Coan’s last season 2019 with Wisconsin the big thing I noticed when comparing him to Book is that he is not as quick on his feet but seems to see the field better and is willing to stay in the pocket longer waiting for a receiver to open rather than run. Seems to see the open man better too.
Most Top 100 picks, past 10 years: Alabama 59 Ohio State 46 LSU 41 Clemson 28 Notre Dame 28 Florida 27 Georgia 26 Florida State 24 Oklahoma 22 Stanford 22 USC 22 Michigan 21 Washington 20
Spring game in an hour or two. I'm a little more hyped for this one since we didn't have one last year and lots of questions to be answered before fall. Probably won't really have any solid answers but just good to watch some plays at SB.
Kirby Smart from Georgia has recruited tons of 5 star players since he has been at Georgia but they frequently don't end up high draft picks.
Well W EDC know one thing for sure after the spring game, we have a really good, deep defense. We also know the offense has a ways to go To catch up. Also we know Coan is the starter, Pyne will never will be and Tyler Buchner will be pushing for the starting position rapidly. He’s the real deal.
Interesting move, Ohio States Jameson Williams has transferred to Alabama and can play next year due to the new transfer rules. Don?
With Waddle and Smith going to the NFL he probably has a good shot at starting. We really have 2 WRs with experience coming back so he will be integrated quickly.
I'm not sure what other schools are doing but apparently Alabama has set up a program to assist football players in marketing themselves called "The Advantage".
It's pretty common, and has been going on for awhile. Texas has one, I forget what it's called but it's all about helping athletes with NIL. I think there are also 3rd party's out there who will come in and set up a program for you and maybe even run it, I am pretty sure Nebraska was one of the first clients of that new company. I'm not exactly sure what Notre Dame is doing, they made a big deal out of opting out of the EA Sports reboot of NCAA football, Northwestern did the same. Unlike the 100-plus other programs that have already signed on, the Fighting Irish and the Wildcats will withhold their participation until their players are allowed to be compensated for the use of their names, images, likeness, performance histories and such. “Notre Dame Athletics welcomes the return of “EA Sports College Football,” a video game series that has historically helped promote interest in college football,” Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement. “Notre Dame will not, however, participate in the game until such time as rules have been finalized governing the participation of our student-athletes.”
Also with regards to the NIL, there are different rules for different states and I don't think the Texas Leg has yet addressed the NIL issue, there was a thread on that on InsideTexas and posters were commenting that lack of action by the Leg will put us at a disadvantage in recruiting against schools from states were there are laws. The NCAA has been trying to get the FEDS (Congress) to come up with a national set of rules so everybody plays by the same rules, but it hasn't happened yet.
Odds to win the national championship TEAM ODDS (5/4/2021) Alabama 5-to-2 Clemson 7-to-2 Ohio State 5-to-1 Oklahoma 7-to-1 Georgia 9-to-1 Texas A&M 25-to-1 Wisconsin 35-to-1 LSU 35-to-1 Florida 40-to-1 Notre Dame 40-to-1 Miami (FL) 40-to-1
Georgia has a new law regarding the NIL, college athletes in Georgia can now make some money off their "Brand"!!! But that new law also allows for the college to take up to 75% of that income and put it into a pool to be distributed to athletes upon graduation. Hah! there is always a catch! The bill that Kemp signed into law allows schools across the state to take up to 75% of an athlete's endorsement income. That cut would be deposited into a pool for all athletes at the school and then redistributed upon athletes' graduation. https://sports.yahoo.com/new-georgi...schools-to-take-athletes-money-143850090.html
Tide picks up another highly ranked transfer, Tennessee's leading tackler from last year, LB Henry To'o To'o.
