You've got that right, he's the opposite of DeChambeau size wise looks like 120lbs soaking wet. Link is to a good article on him in Gold Digest. Masters 2021: Will Zalatoris continues to find success by bucking conventional wisdom
Be interesting to see how the weather works today. Supposed to be calm this morning while the afternoon guys will be playing in a fair amount of wind.
I have what I thought was a great fantasy team (still in the money after second round.) One player didn't make the cut DJ. Damn!
Hideki.....MATSUYAMA!... I actually hope he wins....seems like if would be a nice story. But all golfers know....the winner happens on the back 9 of Augusta National.
Nobody could make a move on him. I thought maybe with the way Zalatoris started maybe he'd have a magical round. Played well but not well enough to take advantage of the few openings that he got from Matsuyama
Stewart Cink, age 47, the winner at Harbor Town. It's 1 of 2 PGA TOUR venues that I have played. The other one is TPC San Antonio where the Valero Texas Open is played. A lot of kudos have been given to his son, Regan, who is on the bag. But watching them I think Cink pretty much was in complete control and not looking to Regan. I could be wrong of course. Either way they had a great week together, awesome experience no doubt for them both. Jack had his son on the bag late in his career,, I am thinking maybe even the '86 Masters.
Jack jr on the bag in 86.....I've got Tucson National, Torrey Pines, Bellerive, and Pebble on my list.
Tour is in New Orleans this week for a team event. Personally I've never really cared for the format they use in New Orleans and the field is pretty weak so not a tournament that I pay much attention to usually. The Tour has announced a bonus pool for the players that is based on how they influence the Money generated by the Tour. It seems a bit controversial as it rewards players not for how they played but for how their presence generates money for the Tour. I don't really care to tell you the truth, it seems sort of like appearance money, guys like Dustin can demand money just to show up at a tournament, the #125th player on the money list is just happy to get into the weeks event.
TPC Ponta Vidra, PGA West, Pebble, Torrey Pines, Harbor Town, TPC Scottsdale, Open sites Oakland Hills, Inverness, Bethpage (black) Pinehurst (no. 2) also have played Kiawah Island a few times.
My brother in law played St. Andrews using a Divnick, a fully adjustable club that you can dial from D to P and all stops in between. He carries it in sash that attaches to his belt and looks like a condom. He has a photo himself with his caddie at St. Andrews and the caddie is holding the Divnick on an ornate pillow. He came home from Scotland with this big St. Andrews medallion on a official looking ribbon that he can wear around his neck. He looks like Flava Flav with that thing on. We all hate to play with him.
I'd never heard of that, so I looked it up, and you're right. That guy has a whole bunch of crazy adjustable clubs.
Phil not sure he'll accept a special exemption from the USGA , for the US Open, if he doesn't qualify for it. It's at Torrey Pines this year, sort of his home course. Nobody has more runner up finishes than Phil, but with his current game it's unlikely he'll make the cut.
He's kept his game in good shape for a long time. Years ago Commish mentioned that the buff guys always seem to experience serious injuries while "soft" guys like Phil seldom have bad injuries. This year's example is Brooks Koepka.
