Thanks, Terry, for that walk down memory lane. Yes, my memory is fuzzy, period, but definitely as it relates to those 3 games. I'm surprised we won 2 of them. All I remember is being frustrated because we couldn't get to Brees. I recall that he rolled out a lot. I believe the term "basketball on grass" was coined because of how Tiller ran his offense with Brees at QB.
The mess at Tenn with Jeremy Pruitt might have taken down new Alabama ST coach, Jay Graham, he resigned yesterday no reason given. He was on the Tenn staff last season, so makes you wonder if something has come up regarding his involvement in the recruiting violations that have been alleged at Pruitt and his program while at Tenn.
Longhorns have to pause their Spring Practice due to Covid. They will still get their 15 practices but they'll take longer to get them done.
From what I read everyone is hoping that the recruiting restrictions will be lifted and starting June players will be able to take official visits. I know I've read a number of players are at least planning on taking official visits this summer.
I got an invite to a closed Aggie practice at Kyle field in about 3 weeks. Guess they are thanking the season ticket holders who came to games during the Coof.
Gators already done? Irish and Texas just getting started, both are planning Spring games. Irish game will be on the Peacock Network and Texas of course will be on the Longhorn Network
End of an era at Wisconsin, it's being reported that Barry Alvarez will be retiring. He was Lou Holtz's DCoord in the 1988 National Championship season then left to be the Wisconsin HC where he built the Badgers into a great program.
Transformed Wisconsin from “Haplessconsin” to a B10 power. The university administration at Wisconsin does not make life easy for its athletic programs so it will be interesting to see how its programs fare without someone with the force of personality that Alverez has defending their interests.
Fascinating. Not only is he a brilliant strategist, as he has proven over and over, he keeps the explanation simple. That means his players fully understand why they are doing what they're doing. Oh yes. It certainly helps that the players he's coaching are among the very best in the country.
I think he is talkative when it is something he wants to talk about. Don't ask him about a depth chart or what it takes to win a national championship though. Sid, I think he is a brilliant defensive mind but he is really a master at getting young men to buy into the "process". That is what really amazes me and I think that is the difference between him and other top-level coaches today.
kp, combine what I said with what you said, and it adds up to him being a master communicator. That has to be a huge element in his success.
Kelly said in his press conference that all Irish football players will have the opportunity for the vaccine 4/10 and then the 2nd shot 3 weeks later. It will not be mandatory though. Said that they had a meeting with them on the advantage of getting the vaccine.
Ohio State's Spring Game will be held this Saturday April 17th. 19,195 fans will be allowed to watch. Coach Day is not even close to picking a starting QB as the last week of spring practice begins. A number of position battles are in the mix on both offense and defense. Looks like we will have to wait for fall football to have some clarity.
