Totally agree with him. Encourage folks to get the shot, but that's not a decision to be forced with "papers"...
My son unfortunately has an Auto-Immune issue that requires him to take an injection every two weeks to be able to walk. His Doctor who is from the Cleveland Clinic and considered an expert in his field says whatever you do don’t take the Covid vaccination same as don’t take the flu virus vaccination because of its effect on his current medication (Of course the latter doesn’t exist anymore evidently). This being said at 29 and soon to be married his chances at ever flying or public transport are zero if we need a Covid visa to travel as some want...
Hopefully as more information comes out the recommendations will change. I was listening to Doctor Radio and they were talking about ulcerative colitis and Covid, many take regular infusions and the docs were saying that they don't have much information but currently they are recommending they take the vaccine.
I would imagine there would have to be health exceptions. Especially if things settle down. It’s a bad idea and I don’t expect it to happen. But hang on to your vaccination cards.
I will be watching the numbers after spring break, kids are partying with no masks, will there be a surge? Also some are worried that with that UK variant starting to be the dominant strain that we could face a surge anyway.
No disrespect but that doesn’t comfort a lot, sounds like pure ignorance of data or lack of.... We are all reaching out to get through this with the umbrella of just throw the damn shot at pregnant woman, children and other issues and hope for the best. Unfortunately and more than likely this may be the worst decision.... My son is okay without a Covid visa, he makes a great income, he just may be driving everywhere. That being said he’s a tad more insightful and vindictive than I will ever be and will make it his mission in life to punish those who require a Covid visa. But we all need goals in life
Lord I sound like the opposing talking point and I’m actually not in this but there are 1,350 miles of shoreline in Florida (yeah I had to check). It’s pretty amazing that only one mayor in one City who is at this point is gathering international headlines by crying wolf with an age group that by all records has a .04% chance of death from Covid, why aren’t the other coastal cities making headlines. The increase in visitors is so large our cell service isn’t working properly in most areas. Florida is now moving to 50 years old and up eligible to get the vaccine by April 1st. Most seniors have received the vaccination, I know 100% at my fathers facility has. I’ll make a wager the mayor of Miami Beach has ambitions for higher office which is why the drama being given and it sells fear and news...
Ralph I can see why you feel that way, but as I said as time goes by more information will be available and it might change the recommendations for the vaccine for a number of conditions. Also I will be surprised if we will need a Covid Visa to travel by air, esp as the % of the population becomes vaccinated increases.
In Martin County where I have a place they are not above imposing proactive curfews and closing public boat ramps and beaches if they sniff trouble on the horizon. They did it last year. I don't think the problem lies with the kids although its has morphed into vandalism now. Its is that they will go home and spread this **** all over the place. This will be a good test of the vaccine.
In the recent past there have been surges after holidays, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc when families get together and spread it amongst the family. It's why a lot of schools didn't do the fall break and went straight through, I was thinking many were also not doing Spring Break so that they didn't come back to campus and get an outbreak going on campus. So we shall see, certainly more people are vaccinated now and will this have some impact or will we see another surge in cases that may be related to the Spring Break celebrations.
Yeah and I truly missed how bad the vandalism was until after my post. If I said anything earlier it could be construed to racism even though it’s only an observation from what I’ve seen in several videos. I’d rather be labeled ignorant and missing the point, ignorance comes more natural for me
We've managed to vaccinate the vast majority of individuals that have high mortality rates. I'm guessing that the majority of future cases will be in the younger, healthier unvaccinated group. It all contributes to eventual herd immunity.
Hmmm, I’m just an old hayseed but I’m not feeling the urban life in Miami brings the quality of life I’ve been thinking about
Moderna CEO says we'll likely need boosters and also that they have new vaccine that they are sending to the NIH for testing that is hoped to be more effective vs the variants. Also says that the same technology (mRNA) is going to allow them to produce a better more effective Flu vaccine. What’s Next For Moderna Post-Covid-19: CEO Stéphane Bancel Details mRNA Pipeline
Gov Abbott was roundly criticized for removing the mask mandate, I'm among those who thought he was wrong to do it. But right now the numbers in Texas are still trending down. Now I don't think there is any correlation as many businesses still require masks and many Texans (myself included) are wearing masks as if there was still a mandate. So I won't be one saying that well this proves we never needed it, hah! Govt Conspiracy, etc. We are just now coming out of Spring Break so we may see some numbers going up, again don't think that it's proof that we needed to wear them. Also like most states the number of people vaccinated is going up every day and that helps.
Interesting results from the stimulus checks via Covid ... Currently 7 local restaurants have announced they are cutting hours back to 4 hours a day. Cooks and waitresses have decided we are wealthy in the moment and refuse to work. One employee between the stimulus package and tax return has an additional $25k in the bank and has not come back.
