I'll get it when they offer it to my group, which will be last. I don't fear the virus - I've already had it as well, but no reason not to boost the system. My wife is a teacher and her school district arranged for all the teachers to get theirs this week. She got hers Monday. No effects other than sore arm.
I tend to agree Terry, at first I wasn’t sure but with the wide range of Covid variants I can see it being a benefit. I can see this vaccination being similar to the seasonal flu injection (Wait there is no more flu) where it’s tailored every year to the best guess of what’s out there. Others may not agree but I was leaning towards the J&J but learned it does have a few moral issues with my thought process.... Thanks Terry Some US bishops discourage Catholics from getting Johnson & Johnson vaccine if others are available - CNN
Still waiting to get mine. Chemically induced and respirator induced asthma is a real thing. I had to leave the Emergency Response Team with Applied Materials 10 years ago when it became impossible to wear any kind of mask for more than 30 minutes. The time has reduced over the years. Governor Abbot has declared that Texas is 100% open as of yesterday. However, I went into Walmart to get DEF for my truck and the teenage Walmart greeter demanded I wear a mask. 6 minutes into my trek to the back of the store (Automotive department), I was having trouble exhaling and actually got sick. I threw up and headed out without the DEF and without a mask. According to the manager that met me outside, the teenage greeter was assigned to clean up the bio hazard in the isle as his last duty. He was then offered an opportunity to find acceptable employment outside of the Walmart chain. It was not Walmart's policy to demand a mask. Policy is to request that customers wear one. I guess that that kid thinks he knows better than the Governor of the state.
Sorry to hear about all your breathing problems Tom, this whole need to wear a mask has to have been very tough on you. I feel fortunate that I'm able to tolerate a N95 mask all day at work and I even wear a ASTM Level 2 Mask on top of the N95. When I'm out at the grocery store since I have easy access to N95 masks I wear one where ever I go, still do it even though I'm fully vaxed. I do feel like the mask mandate was reasonable and while I disagreed with Gov on relaxing it right now. I see that most businesses (my dental office included) are still requesting their patrons to wear a mask. I instructed my staff that we will all continue to wear masks in the office full time, but that we won't create an incident if somebody arrives without a mask, we'll offer them one but won't tell them they can't enter the office. We'll quickly get them back to the operatory where they have to take off the mask anyway for treatment and examination.
Terry I visited the dentist yesterday, wore my mask in but the lobby was a mix of some on and off. The gal who cleans my teeth has been there 19 years so we exchanged our numerous avenues to offend each other and I said she favors Darth Vader these days. After she did her best to punish me for my lack of flossing we hugged each other and agreed we are just doing our best in a different era.
More and more state are opening the gates to all who want to get the vaccine to be able to register. I imagine that pretty much everybody who wants the vax will have it by the 4th of July.
That is the shot we got also. I didn't have any negative reaction, but Jeanne had one much like Terry described. However within 48 hours all was normal.
Interesting article on CNN about Fla Gov Ron DeSantis and his response to Covid. Republican Gov. DeSantis is taking credit as Florida booms a year into pandemic - CNNPolitics
My how things have changed since Nov. Back then the "star" governor was Killing Grannie Grabbing Fannies Cuomo. Book deals, Emmy award the whole enchilada. Stunning that CNN would say anything complimentary about DeSantis. Then again, they don't have their whipping boy to make money off of any more.
Got my first vaccine today. Scheduled for the second one on 8-April two days before I leave for South Carolina for the last time. 13-April is our closing date on the house in Lyman.
