I thought after Texas beat KU at home that they might win out and finish the season on an upswing after a bad run, but they lost to a good Texas Tech team at home tonight and now sit in 6th place in the conference and KU who looked dead after 2 bad losses to Tenn and WVU now has won 6 out of their last 7. They still won't win the B12 regular season but they might be rounding into form at the right time and could be trouble.
I'm not sure what this world is coming to, but Alabama just won the regular season SEC title in Basketball.
I know we don't really talk Women's college basketball much around here, but I have to say that inspite of my teams (ND and Texas) not being in the conversation for the Final Four, that this years women's tourney is going to be very competitive. As usual UConn seems to be the best team followed by Stanford and Scott's Aggies who just beat So.Carolina a former #1 this year. But there are about 8 teams that could win it all. Women's basketball used to be so top heavy that it wasn't really funny, but there are more young ladies who are playing at a high level, maybe the presence of the WNBA is a factor in inspiring them to work hard and develop. Speaking of Texas the move of Vic Schaffer from Miss State to Texas was a huge win for the Longhorns but didn't make us instant winners but the recruiting has gone off the charts next years freshmen will be a star studded class. So the Longhorn women's program should be on the rise, as there is a lot of very good talent right here in the state of Texas.
I see that Michigan has jumped over Baylor and are #2 behind Gonzaga. Everybody says Gonzaga is a really great team, but they do play in a conference that is not as tough as the Big 12, Big 10 and SEC this year. So I do wonder if when they get into the tournament that softer schedule will hurt them in terms of being ready for teams like Michigan, Baylor, Ohio State, etc.
They were scheduled to play Baylor early in the season, but Coronavirus issues caused postponement and presumably eventual cancellation.
New top 25 shows off the B10 strength with Mich, Illinois and Iowa in the top 5. Ohio State at #7. NIT moves to Dallas and shrinks to 16 teams.
Nebby blew Rutgers out of the gym last night which really surprised me as Rutgers is a good team that gave Michigan fits recently because of its hard nosed defense. Hoiberg is an excellent coach and looks like his rebuilding effort at Nebby is starting to show results.
Baylor wins in OT with the Mountaineers. Excellent game. All five starters for Baylor are shooting over 40% in treys. Unbelievable!
Re: Bobda’s video: #55 hit a 3 pointer. I wonder if he’ll get a look by the NBA as an enforcer. Makes Rugby look like a sissy sport.
