I couldn’t let this go unchallenged. Just what is your definition of “fairly.” Let’s review the events leading up to the “fair” election. 1. Approximately one year before the US Presidential election a new, deadly virus apparently sourced in China suddenly appears in the West. Because the live by different rules, the Chinese contain the virus in Wuhan apparently locking those identified as infected in their apartments and disposing of the bodies a couple of weeks later. China bans travel from Wuhan to domestic cities like Shanghai and Beijing but allows travel to Europe and the US. What a coincidence that the only American leader to stand up to China and oppose their attempts to dominate economically and militarily will be done in by their virus. 2. The media prepares for the election. The symbol of their handling of the pandemic is the CNN Covid Countdown graphic that remains on the screen 24/7 and magically disappears after Biden is elected. It’s as though tens of thousands of Americans haven’t died since he took over. Every night the opening story on the National Newscasts is “a bombshell revelation” which is nothing more than some half-true story or some “tell all” book by a distant Trump relative or former Trump employee. The media shows the true depth of its bias by purposely failing to cover the story of the damning documents found on the Hunter Biden laptop. A poll following the election showed that a significant percentage (enough to turn the election) of those voting for Biden wouldn't have if they'd know about the story. Knowing it will hurt Biden politically they keep a true news story from the US public just as Goebbels and the Nazi propaganda machine kept bad war news from their public. 3. The economy. Given an opportunity by the pandemic, Democratic governors wage a devastating attack on small businesses. Not only are small business owners often Republican but they are also a source of political contributions to Republican candidates. As their government employees, a source of political contributions to Democrats, continue to receive their incomes, small businesses are crushed by lockdowns. (Shouldn't overlook the part the pro Democrat Teacher's Unions have played in keeping parents from work because schools are closed for no scientific and medical reason.)This has the added effect of harming the national economy at the same time. Harming Republicans, reducing donations and wrecking the Trump economy is the real reason for the lockdowns, not the pandemic. Since the election governors Newsome and Cuomo have both announced, “it’s time to begin reopening.” On deck is the new “stimulus” bill bailing out the states that purposefully destroyed their economies to influence the election. 4. With the economy on the ropes, millions of Americans ended up in food lines and unemployment. Initially there was help from Washington. But as the election grew closer, relief from the suffering suddenly was no where to be found. Pelosi refused to come up with a reasonable relief bill and even money that was previously set aside for help was not allocated. It didn’t matter how much some Americans needed help; misery was the friend of the Democrats. 5. Changing election laws. We’ve already discussed the Unconstitutional changes made to many state election rules. This is how we run a “fair” election in the US.
What you conveniently overlook is the fact that McConnell voted against the Impeachment because even though they've sworn to uphold the Constitution the Democrats again violated it by trying to impeach a private citizen.
The #1 precious metal in this country is not the gold that William Devane has been hawking as a second career. It's lead. The American public has solidified its position as the largest armed force in the world. Now heavily armed. Dis-trust in government is immeasurably high at this point. People watched the recent phony impeachment with a mixture of bewilderment, amusement and sadness. I look at Congress and know that there is no one on camera who I would consider for a second interview in my business. These are clownish opportunists, profiteers. Washington DC is now an armed encampment. While we are told walls to protect our borders are dehumanizing, our nation's capital is now a walled fortress protected by 8,000 armed troops and the plan is to keep them in place until next fall. Razor wire and walls everywhere. Watching Joe Biden in a bomber jacket shuffle across the WH lawn with his two dogs to the reporters illustrates his decrepit state, physically and mentally. In the last two days he has been virtually MIA. Since Nov. 4 , the average price of gas at the pump has increased .38 per gallon nationally. Joe is getting ready to choke off a second pipeline. Supply and demand are foreign concepts to true zealots. JO'Co ! You are the unchallenged historical expert on this forum. I ask you these questions in all seriousness. Is secession possible or feasible in this current environment? Is civil war even a remote possibility? And a follow up.... If civil war is a possibility, who are the potential antagonists? Can you apply your historical perspective to these questions? And if I'm full of ****, please feels free to point that out !
"magically disappears after Biden is elected" You must not check out CNN too often. During the holidays the number of cases, deaths and hospitalizations exploded across the U.S. and it was amply covered by CNN. Now the cases are down but CNN still posts articles and comments that Fauci and the CDC recommend extreme caution and care to prevent another surge. Biden doesn't get a break..... there is no alternate reality for him. But he has been very very active in trying to get the doses out to the public for vaccinations. Trump missed a great opportunity to tout his vaccine efforts and enhance his presidential legacy by engaging an aggressive vaccine roll-out program but he chose instead to foment his big lie about his "landslide" win even though he was never ahead in any polls but rather he lost by about the same margin that all of the polls continuously showed him to be behind in and his legal team never could present any credible evidence in any court of law to the contrary. Was Trump crippled by Covid..... absolutely he was and for him it was very unfortunate timing but his handling of the pandemic was very poor and tragic in many cases with his transparent self-concern for the upcoming election always on full display instead of selfless leadership.
Trump's handling of the pandemic was as formulated by his medical advisors. Seeing countries with their health systems overwhelmed the plan was to "flatten the curve" ie. try to avoid a spike that would cripple the system. It worked. There were no shortages of ventilators and with very few exceptions hospital capacities were sufficient. Meanwhile Democratic governors like Cuomo boosted the death toll with criminal orders. After being given a hospital ship and a large medical facility at the Javits Center Cuomo instead put infected seniors back into nursing homes and covered up his wrong doing. The belief that you could completely suppress the virus in a Constitutional republic was a myth. Each state has a health dept. and was primarily responsible for response to the pandemic. Trump held the economy together and kept the health system from being swamped. He helped bring a vaccine to market sooner than any had before. Biden has done noting different. He recently announced he'd order more vaccine. Wow, he exercised the option the Trump administration had negotiated. The only thing different is how things are being reported.
One thing that is overlooked, as much criticism as the US has received for it's handling of everything Covid is that we're doing much better than Canada a country that is often lionized for their compassionate healthcare system. They are way behind us in vaccinations. So is most of Europe, another area lefty's like to point to as paradigms of virtue in all they do with their social safety nets.
Agree Tom, but I enjoy and learn from gippers posts. He shows the difference in really thinking about and presenting his position as opposed to just being obstinate.
"Changing election laws. We’ve already discussed the Unconstitutional changes made to many state election rules." We did discuss the changes in election laws and the reasons for that which you continue not to acknowledge. No one in the GOP leadership except maybe a few fringe members still believe the election was fraudulent...... and probably they don't believe it either it's just that they have cast their lot so heavily with Trump they can't or won't back down from the fantasy lie.
I do not think that another Civil War is immanent, however... Nobody thought there would be a Civil War last time either. As late as the election in November, 1860, both sides believed that war was impossible. One southern politician proclaimed, "I will mop up with my handkerchief all the blood that will be spilled in the Civil War." Senator Jefferson Davis of Mississippi believed that Civil War was impossible and concentrated on his special project: renovating the U.S. Capitol building... I do think that our country is teetering on the edge of a historic disaster, but it won't be a war between the states. It will be a Cold Civil War for some time until one side or the other decides to go to the mattresses and that may take some time. Both political parties have no faith or trust in the other and new presidents ruling by executive order, instead of the legislative process, has become a tradition. Both political parties are divided internally and both may fall apart, which may be a good thing...
"Curious if you have actually seen the videos from Jan 6th and what you think of those that invaded and debased the Capitol building and murdered a policeman." I'm curious Dave, which policeman was "murdered?" Has anyone been charged? Where did you hear that?
Officer Sicknick was alive and well before the Capitol invasion...... and this as reported 4 days ago by Fox News: "Sicknick, 42, was struck in the head by a fire extinguisher while "physically engaging" with rioters at the Capitol, authorities said. He collapsed once he returned to his division and died at the hospital the next day. No cause of death has been given and it is unclear if the blow to Sicknick's head, exposure to chemical irritants during the melee, or something else ultimately contributed to his death. Sicknick’s remains were cremated before he laid in honor in the Capitol Rotunda last week, as dozens of law enforcement officials, congressional leaders, President Biden and first lady Jill Biden paid their respects. Fox News was told immediately after Sicknick’s death that authorities would treat the probe as a homicide investigation. The FBI and U.S. Capitol Police continue to comb through tips related to Sicknick’s death and are soliciting more every day. The slain officer was one of five people who died as a result of the rioting." In any event I guess dealing with a riotous mob spurred on by Trump didn't agree with Officer Sicknick.
I'm all for Trump spending the rest of his dwindling fortune running for office again in 2024.... tearing apart and weakening the Republican party in the process and not having a prayer to win the general election himself with only 42% of the vote or less. I would say it's impossible at this point for Trump to win new friends and influence new voters. And extremism cannot win any elections by itself and will further splinter the GOP because really..... what educated sane member of the Republican party is going to support this kind of crap: "the belief that "the traditional American way of life is disappearing so fast that we may have to use force to save it." In a survey released last week by the conservative American Enterprise Institute, not only did a majority of GOP voters endorse that statement, but nearly one-third of them also embraced the convoluted QAnon conspiracy theory Greene has espoused alleging that Trump is defending the nation against a global ring of influential child sex traffickers. Voters sympathetic to these conspiracy theories and the use or threat of violence as a political tool, says Daniel Cox, a research fellow at the American Enterprise Institute who supervised the poll, have become "a really important faction that the Republican Party is going to have to address. There is a part of the GOP that is really buying into this stuff."
And the preposterous contention by Trump's team on the voting results in the 4 cities of Atlanta, Philly, Detroit and Milwaukee. Here are the 2016 results for those cities/counties: Atlanta Clinton 69% Trump 27% Detroit Clinton 67% Trump 30% Milwau, Clinton 60% Trump 29% Philly Clinton 82% Trump 15% Seriously? Trump's team was advancing the election fraud theory in the 2020 election in these same cities? You have to be kidding!! He must think the American GOP public is a bunch of idiots to believe he could flip these 4 cities in 2020. But here is the real idiot.... with money to burn obviously: "A Republican donor who gave $2.5 million for a voter fraud investigation by a conservative nonprofit has come to regret his decision and doubt the conspiracy theories that fueled the effort, The Washington Post reported Monday. Court records and interviews conducted by the Post show donor Fred Eshelman has worked to get his millions back from True the Vote, a Texas-based group that vowed to expose voter fraud. Eshelman, who wasn't familiar with True the Vote before Election Day, had "thought about the range of possibilities around vote fraud" when he made his donations, according to the newspaper. "There was already noise around cities like Detroit, Milwaukee, Atlanta and Philadelphia." He added: "I wanted to determine if this was legit. Can we find a real smoking gun?"
What caused Sicknick’s death is still unknown. The Capitol Police Department was the original source for the claim that his death was directly caused by being struck in the head by a fire extinguisher used as a weapon by a Trump supporter who was part of mob that stormed the Capitol. Soon thereafter, the NYT, citing the police source, ran a front page headline asserting the officer was murdered by a Trump supporter brandishing a fire extinguisher. And that story became accepted as fact. But, that claim was refuted in the 2/2 story issued by CNN Investigators struggle to build murder case in death of US Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick Today, Fox News noted that the New York Times has now essentially retracted its original report that connected Sicknick’s death to a blunt force injury. New York Times corrects report on Capitol officer's death cited in Trump impeachment trial A thread from Glenn Greenwald’s twitter account provides an excellent analysis of how a false story can be transformed by the media into an established and commonly accepted fact even though later evidence shows the original story to be false
JO'Co, is secession even possible in this day and age in your opinion? Also, I see poll results showing 64% of Americans would favor a third political party. Even 46% of Democrats which is a direct result of the radical left.
