Don, my guess is that H spent his time after the season ended unsuccessfully trolling for a NFL gig.

He's moving fast with his brothers LB coach to be the new DCoord after the Ravens season is over.

Boise State hired Oregon DCoord and former player Andy Avalos as their Head Coach. He was a great player under Chris Petersen.

Should continue the success that they have had at Boise State.

I think we can do better. I'm not sure who but I think our defense underperformed this year. It will be difficult losing both coordinators though.

kp I've read that the DCoord at Miss State is well liked by Saban.

Also seeing that Dan Quinn (Falcons fired HC) is interested in returning to college he was a DCoord at Seattle under Pete Carrol before getting the Falcons job.

Terry, I don't watch the NFL so I don't anything about Quinn. If Saban likes the guy at Miss St., then obviously he must be okay, but I have not been impressed with MSU's defense.

No statements from Mullen but personally I doubt he goes to the NFL.

Mullen is all over the pregame stuff on ESPN, has the Gators logos on and hanging out with Tebow and Palmer so that seems to me a good indicator of where his head is at regarding Florida.

it's widely being rumored that former Patriots OCoord and Houston Texans HC, Bill O'Brien will be replacing Sark as the Alabama OCoord. I'm more than a little surprised. I am not a fan of BOB, he had success at NE because he had Brady, just like Charlie Weis. His success early at Houston had to do more with the AFC South being a dumpster fire. He certainly has a lot of experience both at the college and Pro level, so you have to give him that. But just really surprised.

So you're saying there are cracks in Saban's empire?!

Maybe! :D I have a hard time seeing BOB and his personality working with Saban, but then BOB was with BB in New England so maybe it will work. As I said he's got a lot of collegiate experience. He once coached with George O'Leary at Ga.Tech and was actually going to move to Notre Dame with O'Leary before that whole thing blew up. I am guessing that because of that experience and his experience coaching DeShaun Watson at the Texans, and with Bryce Young the starter at Alabama being a similar player to Watson in terms of skill set maybe Saban thinks BOB is the guy to build a dual threat offense.

But he left a bad taste in my mouth with the last 2 or 3 years at Houston.

BOB joins a long list of NFL head coaches who were successful at the college level but not so at the pro level. He just lasted longer than most. My money's on Saban to "revive" BOB's career, similar to what he did for Sarkesian.

Well one thing is for certain, O'Brien will do it the Alabama way or he won't last 2 weeks. Also he will have outstanding talent to work with at Alabama. He has no fans in Houston Texas that's for sure.

I will say that you have to give Saban the benefit of the doubt, as he's made few if any mistakes in building and maintaining the Alabama program.

Funny thing is that I'll bet nobody except kp can name the OCoord for the 2017 Natl Championship Tide! He was only there 1 year.

The name I guessed-Locksley- was there for 3 years and left for Maryland. Did Saban have co coordinators that year?

Locksley would have been right, they did have Co-OCoord that year, the other guy was Brian Daboll who left after that 1 year to take the OCoord job for the Buffalo Bills and is still there.

I remembered Locksley, but didn't remember Daboll until I saw it.

I didn't remember Daboll at all and had to look him up, Bills offense has been very good with Josh Allen developing at QB and Daboll as the OCoord. Of course Locksley probably got more credit and it was Locksley that Tua's brother followed to Maryland.

FWIW I wondered what Saban was thinking when he hired Locksley. But it seems to have worked out OK. Goes to show you Saban knows more than I do!!
