Regular injuries are a fact of life. The virus is the asterisk.

Uh oh... Ohio State might have a Covid problem, rumors are that the game is going to get moved to Jan 18th.

Supposedly an entire position is impacted.

Nothing to confirm here at the moment from local sources. What a year this has been, obviously we will have to wait and see. Rumors always trouble me.
Local sources AD Gene Smith and NBC affiliate are reporting game on schedule to be play Next Monday evening as scheduled.

Naturally she apologized and then her Twitter account was deleted. Currently one of Brian Kelly's kids has gotten into it with a ND Recruiting Website writer who was critical of Kelly after the game. Twitter ..ugh.

Sounds like the Buckeyes are planning on being in Miami for Monday's game. They said this morning on ESPNU that teams that have at least 53 players including a certain number of players on the lines and a QB have to play, can't postpone.

“We’re following the same protocols we followed all season long,” Smith told ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg Tuesday. “We intend to play on January 11th, and we continue to communicate with the Big Ten and now the CFP, so at this point in time, we see the game being played. But who knows what tomorrow will bring? That’s COVID. We’re on track right now.”

According to a 247 writer this is the first time 2 teams with a Blue Chip ration of > 80% will meet for the Championship.

Might be some problems in Knoxville with recruiting violations.

Tennessee officials haven't extended the contracts of assistant football coaches and have paused hiring coaches for vacancies as the Volunteers continue to investigate whether recruiting violations occurred within the program, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Earlier this week, the university announced it had hired attorneys Mike Glazier and Kyle Skillman to assist its in-house counsel and compliance officials in the internal investigation. The attorneys have interviewed current players this week about alleged improper benefits and other rules violations, sources told ESPN.

Sources: Vols put pause on deals amid inquiry

Like Sam Ehlinger, Ian Book, and other non-elite QB's who could have come back in 2021 and whose teams have QB's but none with much experience, Kellen Mond is moving on to try his hand at the NFL.

Texas got a glimpse of Casey Thompson in his 1/2 of play in the Alamo Bowl and he looked good. Notre Dame's Brian Kelly hasn't ever done much to develop the backup so our young QB don't have any experience either which is why Jack Coan from Wisconsin was brought in....What QB is expected to take the reins next season in College Station Scott?

Thinking out loud about players leaving for the NFL and transfering...I wonder if Ohio State RB Trey Sermon has another game like he did vs Northwestern and Clemson...I wonder if he'll decide it's time to move on to the NFL rather than return to Ohio State. He's a hot commodity right now with those games, if he'd played like that all year he'd be an AA candidate and people would be talking about 1st round.

If he comes back and has a full year of "greatness" then he could play his way into the 1st round. Or he could come back and have a year like Oklahoma State RB Chubba Hubbard who played himself out of the 1st round.

Not sure he's eligible to stay. 3 years at Oklahoma and came as a grad transfer.

Everybody gets a free year, Sam Ehlinger, Ian Book both used up all the normal eligibility but could have returned in 2021 due to the NCAA freebie. ND has a DT who has played 4 years, but will come back next year due to the freebie.

But that said, I didn't know he was a grad transfer. Given his finish to the season, he's likely to go then coming back risks injury and of course a possibility of not playing as well as he finished.

Right now we're thinking Haynes King will be the guy... he saw action at the end of the Bama game.
Zach Calzada is the other choice, but haven't really seen him this year.
Both are guys Jimbo picked and pursued, so we should be OK.
Having spring practice will be really important this year.
