Supposedly, the AD has met with Harbaugh twice but no word of an extension. Brown’s firing would seem to suggest H is not going to be fired since if the AD intends to fire H, why fire the DC before firing the head coach? H right now is in California vacationing with his family. On signing day, Brown was silent on twitter which leads me to think he knew at that time his job was ending.
Shake up at LSU, Steve Enemsinger is retiring and a couple other coaches are also leaving.. Reboot mode for Eddie O.
NE Patriots QB Coach, Jedd Fisch (who's he? ) was hired by Arizona as their next HC. Head coaching changes TEAM FORMER NEW Arizona Kevin Sumlin Jedd Fisch (Patriots QBs) Arkansas State Blake Anderson Butch Jones (Alabama analyst) Auburn Gus Malzahn Bryan Harsin (Boise State HC) Boise State Bryan Harsin Open Illinois Lovie Smith Bret Bielema (Giants OLBs) Louisiana-Monroe Matt Viator Terry Bowden (Clemson GA) South Alabama Steve Campbell Kane Wommack (Indiana DC) South Carolina Will Muschamp Shane Beamer (Oklahoma AHC) Southern Miss Jay Hopson Will Hall (Tulane OC) Utah State Gary Andersen Blake Anderson (Arkansas State HC) Vanderbilt Derek Mason Clark Lea (Notre Dame DC)
Jedd is the QB coach for the Patriots. He used to be the passing coordinator at M and was highly regarded. A well-called play caused Harbaugh to offer this compliment memorialized into a GIF by a M video-nut fan He left M in to become UCLA’s offensive coordinator under Mora and briefly served as interim coach after Mora was fired. He then landed in NE. More than a few M fans mourn his leaving feeling our offense was at its most productive state in the H era when he was here.
Here's a surprise....Terry Bowden is back in coaching!! Louisiana-Monroe hired former Auburn coach Terry Bowden as its next head coach on Wednesday. Bowden, 64, has spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Clemson, where he's pursuing a master's degree. He coached Akron from 2012 to 2018, going 35-52 with two bowl appearances.
Apparently, the Auburn head coaching hire came down to the Athletic Director vs Auburn's infamous boosters and the AD won. I guess he better hope Harsin wins.
The Boise State job now open is a very attractive job, there is a long history of success at that program. I was reading about all the candidates that might be considered, amongst them Cowboy's Kellen Moore. But the list is pretty long and impressive. Would Kellen Moore leave the Cowboys for Boise State's top job?
Urban Meyer to the NFL??? ESPN is reporting that a couple of teams have reached out, and he's going to think about it. Personally I can't imagine it. I could have imagined him returning to coaching at Texas where he would have resources to recruit like he's used to recruiting and building a championship roster quickly. In the NFL where you have to rely on the draft and trades it's a lot more difficult
Don, Stu.. Just out of curiosity I looked up John Coopers record at Ohio State. His first 5 years can't have fired up the fans, no Big 10 Championship, 4 straight bowl losses 35-21-3. Was there any outcry from the fans for him to be fired at that point? After that he got on a run, 3 Big 10 Championships, a Rose Bowl and a Sugar Bowl. Invented Basketball on grass.
Coop was in a no win situation at that time, yes many fans wanted him fired, but he survived. He really was a nice guy in my opinion, his hire was based on his win over Michigan in the Rose Bowl when he coach Arizona State, but he could not beat Michigan. I can still see him standing on the sidelines biting his nails near every games end. He never left Columbus Ohio and remained a true advocate and supported the Buckeyes. I will always remember him for that gracious manner.
Supposedly, the Lions reached out to Meyer. Even a great coach like Urban can’t fix the Lions. Even if you could bring Vince Lombardi back to life and provided him with the greatest assistant coaches known to man, they could not fix the Lions. The NFL would be better off razing Ford Field to the ground and salting the field as that franchise is cursed for eternity.
Don do you think that loss to the Holtz coached South Carolina squad was what sealed it or do you think even if the Buckeyes had won he was going to be fired? I keep thinking that Herman will be fired for sure if he loses the game with Colorado, but win or lose Texas fans want him gone. BTW I was always surprised that Cooper never coached again
I saw that this the first time since 1958, that all the major teams in Michigan have losing records Lions Tigers Red. Wings Pistons (arrived from Ft. Wayne in '58) Michigan Michigan State
Inside Texas is rife with rumors that the Texas AD and others involved in the search are now targeting Brian Kelly. Hard for me to believe it has any legs, he just built and moved into a new house close to the ND campus and has a new contract extension.
Lane Kiffin got a new deal with Ole Miss. So he will be a lifer now at Ole Miss! He did beat IU today!
This news will make fans of our rivals very happy. My guess is the added years are optics for recruiting and that the buyout will be significantly less than the buyout in the original contract.
I don't know who will be the next coach at Boise State, but it won't be Boise State legend and Cowboys OCoord Kellen Moore. He announced that he was signing an extension with the Cowboys and that while he hopes someday he might return, not now. Another Boise State legend who is the DCoord at Oregon is also considered a Candidate, Andy Avalos was a star LB at Boise State.
Bob, has Harbaugh signed his extension? If he hasn't is it due to him wanting to wait a bit and see if NFL GM's contact him? San Diego Chargers...err L.A. Chargers fired their coach today.
