Tom Herman will return to Texas for 2021! There's been a lot of speculation about the future of our football coach," Del Conte said in a statement. "My policy is to wait until the end of the season before evaluating and commenting on our program and coaches. With the close of the regular season, I want to reiterate that Tom Herman is our coach."
He's in Charlie Weis territory!! BTW any words leaking out of Ann Arbor on Harbaugh? Vote of confidence?
AD says Jimmy and he will talk after next week game is played. More than a few writers think H will jump back to the NFL but is he an attractive candidate for an NFL team? I guess if Mike McCarthy could get another head coaching job, perhaps he is, but I still believe he will get an extension at M with a small buyout that would provide M the opportunity to end their relationship if there is not a significant improvement in 2021 with M giving him a Covid mulligan for 2020.
Butch Jones is back leading a program. He was hired by Arkansas State...he had this to say. Has anybody ever rehabilitated more coaches than Nick Saban? Arkansas State hired Butch Jones as its new head coach Saturday, an opportunity the former Tennessee coach told ESPN he was "thankful and humbled" to be getting. Jones worked this season as a special assistant to Alabama head coach Nick Saban, after spending the previous two seasons as an offensive analyst on the Crimson Tide's staff. Jones said the time he spent with Saban was invaluable. "I got emotional in the locker room after the game," said Jones, who went directly to the Arkansas State campus in Jonesboro, Arkansas, following Alabama's 52-3 win at Arkansas on Saturday. "Those kids at Alabama mean so much to me, and what Coach Saban and Ms. Terry (Saban's wife) did not only for me, but my family, I'll never be able to repay them," Jones said. "Everybody at Alabama, from day one, welcomed me with open arms, and it's an experience that helped me get back to leading a program again."
Holy crap... they are talking about letting Hugh Freeze in at Auburn. Better get the investigators over there right now to start looking for dirty recruiting...
Well according to Bobby Burton the Tom Herman saga is not over. Del Conte is not the final decision maker on Herman’s future. The football coach is the highest paid employee in the entire University of Texas system. Herman’s fate will ultimately be decided by the school president and the University’s board of regents, not its athletic director. Subsequent to the statement released by Del Conte yesterday, I was told by high-ranking officials at the university that Texas will monitor and pursue coaching candidates following the various conference championship games and into bowl season if necessary. In other words, Del Conte’s statement of support means virtually nothing.
Mullin has done a great job at Fla, it's not like he inherited a juggernaut from Will Muschamp. It's taken some time to rebuild the roster, but he's clearly got the program in a good place, last year a top 10 recruiting class and this year is likely to be a top 10 recruiting class. He beat Georgia this year. So not really sure why any Gator would be longing for him to move on and bring in a new guy.
