What about folks like my boss who had it over Thanksgiving? Natural immunity won't be good enough for the next few months??
There is nothing wrong in my mind with a vaccination record card that helps the recipient know when the next dose is due, and helps the clinician giving the second dose know that the first dose has been given and when. (I'm gonna be a snowbird again this winter so might be getting two doses in two different states.) Those kinds of cards/records are routinely given to parents regarding their kid's vaccinations. Hell, I can't remember when I got my last tetanus shot. My doc says I've had the pneumococcal vaccine and I can't remember having had it...but I'm taking his word (and record) for it. On the other hand, if they start requiring vaccinations and cards as proof of vaccination, then that is another issue.
We have a cruise out of Amsterdam booked in June. Based on my age I assume I'll be able to get vaccinated sometime before May. We'll probably need proof of sticking before we fly internationally and get on a ship. I'm ready.
I saw an article about 2 types of tests that are coming soon, both the equivalent of a breathalyzer, for Covid 19. If they can ramp up production then it's a game changer. Coronavirus breathalyzer test is a 'game changer' for economy
More positive news regarding the vaccine... Pfizer’s Vaccine Offers Strong Protection After First Dose WASHINGTON — The coronavirus vaccine made by Pfizer and BioNTech provides strong protection against Covid-19 within about 10 days of the first dose, according to documents published on Tuesday by the Food and Drug Administration before a meeting of its vaccine advisory group. This wouldn't be a problem for me, but for a lot of people it would be a problem. Thankfully nobody in the USA will be getting the Russian Vaccine!! Russia: Vaccine recipients shouldn't drink booze for 8 weeks Russia has begun mass immunizations but is warning recipients they must abstain from drinking alcohol for eight weeks for the inoculations to be effective. The head of Russia’s consumer safety agency, Anna Popova, said recipients should not drink for two weeks prior to getting the first of two doses required for the vaccine. Alcohol also should be avoided for the three weeks between the first and second dose, then for three weeks after the second dose, Popova said. “It’s a strain on the body. If we want to stay healthy and have a strong immune response, don't drink alcohol,” she told the Moscow Times. Alexander Gintsburg, the head of the state-run Gamaleya research center that developed Sputnik V, was a bit less rigid. Gintsburg said that while alcohol should not alcohol abused before or after vaccination, "a single glass of champagne never hurt anyone."
Found out today a friend died of Covid. No recognizable under lying issues, he was a mechanic for John Deere and called on us for the past 20 years. Evidently got sick over Thanksgiving and ended up in the hospital last week before passing Sunday at 53. Kids, wife, just your normal working Joe who got it accomplished. He will be missed
Sorry for your loss, Ralph. I too lost a really good friend back in May. He was older (76) with some other health issues but still... Also had a guy who was moving in downstairs right below us pass away before he got moved in. Never got to meet him but his wife has moved in. Also have a friend who is in ICU now...was going to be moved down to stepdown today but still coughing and not breathing real great so on oxygen in ICU for now. Not on ventilator. Couldn't even be admitted to our hospital...they have the beds but not the staffing due to the virus so he's transferred to Marion, OH 45 minutes away. And yet another friend was admitted to the hospital 2 days ago...haven't got an update on him.
Well... I'll toss a little light into the gloom here. My wife has it right now. Got tested Sunday to confirm (after losing her sense of smell). She doesn't have the respiratory issues. Headache, some fever, and stomach issues. Says is not nearly as bad as swine flu which she got back when it was doing it's thing. She's bossing me around quite a bit today, (even had the audacity to tell me her eggs weren't fluffy enough!) so it appears she's well on the road to recovery.
Very sorry to hear that Ralph. We have friends who live 3 doors down that came down with it on Thanksgiving. They're both in their late 60's. He's back to 100% and she's almost there. Really concerns you when it hits neighbors.
So what is he secret to Fluffy Eggs...my scrambled eggs are just that scrambled! Taste is good but esthetics is bad!
