As of today... Head coaching changes TEAM FORMER NEW South Carolina Will Muschamp Open Southern Miss Jay Hopson Will Hall (Tulane OC) Utah State Gary Andersen Open Vanderbilt Derek Mason Open
I've read that Frank Beamers son, Shane, is the leading candidate for So.Carolina he's currently on the staff of Lincoln Riley at OU. Vanderbilt AD has said she favors an Offensive minded coach for Vanderbilt, but isn't locked into it. ND DCoord, Clark Lea, is a Vandy grad and was raised in Nashville and his parents still live in Nashville. I read a blurb on The Athletic by Pete Sampson on Lea to Vanderbilt. He said that while many if not all consider it a dead end coaching job, that Lea understands all of that and if he takes the job will do so with eyes wide open. If he's patient and resists Vanderbilt, if offered, there will be better jobs come open where he has a chance of success.
Vegas likes the Buckeyes! Not as much as they do Alabama though..they do not like the Irish! BetOnline has released Look-Ahead Lines for potential College Football Playoff Matchups. You can actually bet on these, but will be graded as No Action unless the two teams face off in the title game. Michigan-Maryland cancelled. Will be nice this Saturday not sitting on the couch and yelling at the TV.
Bobda, Question for you if you do not mind. A great deal of second guessing so many things now out of boredom for many. Herbie has suggested Coach Harbaugh might not be disappointed to see the Michigan Ohio State game canceled to save his own neck and maybe buy another season with the Wolverines. Does that make any sense to you? Gracious what a weird season this is turning out to be!
This will really suck if an undefeated Ohio State doesn't get to play enough games to get into the playoffs. I'm not saying they should get in but it will really put the legitimacy of the playoffs in question.
Once you blurb out something it's hard to take it back...but he tried; Herbie apologized and said it was outrageous and unforgivable for him to have said that. “I had no business at all saying that, I have no evidence of that. It was completely unfair to the University of Michigan, to Jim Harbaugh, to his players and coaches, and I just wanted to apologize,” Herbstreit said. “We all go through some ups and downs, many downs for a lot of people during this COVID crisis that we’re all in. And for me, in college football, I really struggle with where we are. Players opting out, teams canceling games, it just seems like it’s a downward spiral,” he continued. “I think, typically I try to remain positive and upbeat, and I think sometimes we all have our breaking points and I think right now, at Week 14 with so much negativity surrounding the sport, I think that’s sometime a pressure point for me.” Herbstreit then repeated the apology, saying he “misspoke” and his comments were “completely uncalled for.” “I take a lot of pride in being fair and I was not fair tonight and I apologize,” he said.
Don, Harbaugh has been a competitor as a college and pro QB and as a coach. He has faced situations before where he went into a game where he had only a small chance of winning and competed. He may be very quirky but do not think it is in his character to quit.
Disparity in games played...that will be the issue. Remember when the B12 decided to play a championship game even though they already played a round robin schedule? It was because the feeling was the committee gave weight to that "13th" data point when deciding on the final four.
The CFP committee will have their hands full come the final vote, that's for sure. Thanks for your appraisal remarks on Coach Harbaugh Bobda.
I quit taking Herbstreit seriously after his sobbing soliloquy to BLM at the beginning of the season. I grew up in the same area of the same town as he and on that topic he has no knowledge whatsoever. So he has a growing and dramatic history of saying things for effect and then looking like a fool as a result.
I have to give BYU a lot of credit, they had the rug pulled out from under them with the conference only schedules and had to really scramble to line up teams willing to play them. That's why they have a schedule that really isn't that impressive. They tried to fill in for a game that Washington lost recently but the Pac 12 reconfigured their schedule and got UW a Pac 12 opponent. So now they have jumped in and will play Coastal Carolina this weekend after Liberty had to cancel due to Covid. Both BYU and Coastal Carolina are undefeated. BYU is #13 in the CFP rankings and Coastal Carolina is #18. Liberty just cancelled this week and BYU got on the horn and said we'll come if you want us!! Bet neither team will have game film of the other nor be able to come up with game plans based on what they learned from film study. Just roll out the ball and play! I love it! Also I was listening to ESPU talk about Wisconsin/IU. They talked about how dominant Wisconsin has been over the last 10 years vs IU. They are 10-0, the avg margin of victory is 35 points, and they avg 540 yds offense. That's dominance. Also another tidbit I picked up about Ohio State/Mich State. The Buckeyes are on a 7 game winning streak in E.Lansing. Also those big Mich State upsets that ruined Ohio State seasons....all happened in Columbus.
I see that McKenzie Milton the QB who Scott Frost developed into an AA type of QB at UCF and who had a great future ahead of him before that horrific knee injury 2 years ago against USF. He's now entered the Transfer Portal, I've seen reports that his rehab has finally reached the point where he is ready to play again. Whether or not he'll ever be the QB he was before the injury we won't know till he gets back on he field. Good luck to him where ever he lands.
Hey, I'll overnight a cutout of me and our two cutouts can have a drink at Harry's Chocolate Shop. My treat!
Another Longhorn has quit on the team. Keaontay Ingram, the #3 RB has "opted" out of the remaining games to prepare for the NFL. Dude, you're the #3 Rb on a mediocre team what makes you think that you have a future in the NFL?
Ryan Day says that the Buckeyes will be down some players Saturday, but naturally declined to be specific.
