Don I saw a post on another board that said Ohio State has had some positive tests and the game with Illinois is at risk. I'm not seeing it on ESPN, have you heard anything?
When I read this I thought, that means they played uninterrupted through the 1918-19 pandemic, which happened during WW I. I was curious. I found and article which described its impact on Chicago sports, which can be viewed in relation to the country. It's long, but if you have the time to read it, it's pretty interesting from a historical and comparative perspective. 1918 in Chicago sports: Despite World War I and the Spanish flu, George Halas thrived — and the Chicago Cubs may have dodged a fate worse than losing the World Series
Don if the Buckeyes do have an out break and have to miss the Illinois game and given the 21 day rule they could miss the game with MSU, is there a minimum # of games needed to qualify for the Championship game?
Changing the subject...I heard that the offensive interference call against Purdue that negated a probable game winning TD was so egregious that two online sports betting sites (FanDuel and Draft Kings) are giving refunds to all pregame spread and money line bets on Purdue. That seemed so unheard of that I looked it up...and now it apparently is three (Points Bet).
I was watching the game live. One angle not shown in replays is early in the play. It shows the Purdue TE ahead of the defender pushing him off with his extended arm, which is textbook offensive interference IF it can be called before the ball is in the air. I don't know if that's part of the rule, but it apparently was the basis for the call.
Well, everyone can look at it and decide for themselves. I say ******** call; Phantom offensive pass interference call robs Purdue of potential winning TD in loss to Minnesota
One thing for sure is that the history of college football is littered with calls like that, controversial and game changing. FWIW I've seen a number of clips of the play and I think it should not have been called.
Sorry guys. I have to disagree. I’m a Purdue fan and was upset with the call, but this clip doesn’t show the push off between the line of scrimmage and the 10 yard line. There's another angle that shows the push off. You can argue if it should have been called, but I've seen it called many times so I guess the call is legitimate.
Stu, here's a closer look at the penalty. I was wrong about where it happened. It was much closer to the goal line that I remembered. Like I said above, you can argue if it should have been called, but unfortunately the call was legitimate. I just hope you won't shoot the messenger.
Going to be a rainy day here in Austin for the Iowa State v Texas game. Hope the Longhorns play well in the rain!
Looks like the game with Illinois is on schedule to be played. However, Ohio State is not releasing any info on the ineligible players until two hours prior to game time.
Coach Day has tested positive for Covid. Larry Johnson will take over the coaching duties for tomorrow's game with Illinois.
