US OPEN week, Winged Foot...one helluva tough test for the Pros. In the 5 previous US Opens played there only 1 player ( Fuzzy Zoeller) broke par. Jeff Ogilvy won in 2006 in that playoff was +5 for the tourney and never had a round under par. 2006 was also the year that Phil told Bones, play safe no way man, give me the big club I'm going for it, of course that lead to his double bogey and cost him the tourney.

So who ever can hit fairways and greens can win this, bombing it down the fairway 350 yds into that rough is a recipe for disaster, there won't be many lies in the rough that will let you make that 2nd shot to the green like what happened in Boston when Dustin went 30 under.

Well Winged Foot is giving it up today, JT is in the clubhouse at -5 and lots of scores out there under par.

I'm sure there will be some adjustments to toughen it up, no way they will allow a winner to be in double digits under par.

Yeah...that's not a true open so far, the course needs to be brutal, the top pros need to have a look of despair on their faces on approach shots and putts. Betcha Phil's looking forward to the next champions tour event though.

Well Winged Foot is fighting back today! Lots of players over par, with only 5 players under par whereas there were 20 after day 1. The leader in the Clubhouse is DeChambeau at -3 with Patrick Reed out on the course also at -3. That would be an all meathead 2 some on Sat if those guys are in the final group.

I missed most of the action today. How is that wild as a loon DeChambeau staying out of trouble? Looks like JT is struggling and Tiger is gone. My Draft Kings teams are crapping in the bed too.

Well 2 very non-traditional swings are in the final group. Matthew Wulff and Bryson DeChambeau. They said that no final round leader has shot better than 74 in the history of US Opens at Winged Foot.

Wolff is not steady on the testing par putts. Can't believe how often he outdrives DeChambeau. How often does anyone hit their pitching wedge on 170 yd par 3's?

Yeah he's missed some that appear like he's misread the putt.

I thought the explanation of why he can out drive Bryson was pretty good... Ball flight. Bryson has such a high ball flight that he does not get as much run out as Matt. Their drives on the par 5 9th were perfect example.

Wolff must have been aware of the thread here, he just rolled in an eagle putt on 9 right after Bryson did the same, so that was a pressure putt.

Dechambeau is relentless. His drives are all over the place but the Open rough doesn't seem to hamper him much at all.

That drive on 16 was just nuts.

Matt Wolff just falling apart. At 21 though he's got more chances coming.

Kid has talent, but just got in the deep end of the pool today.

DeChambesu is the Champion! Played a great Final round.

I have to admit that while I am fascinated by his style of play, I really can't say that I like him.

Hard to put Bryson's round in context. Johnny Miller's 63 final round score is legendary but Lanny Watkins shot a 65 that same round. DeChambeau just blew away the field today.

Bryson basically said that 2 types of fairways favor the long hitters. 1. Wide fairways bomb away relatively easy for everybody to hit but bombers are way down there. 2. Narrow fairways where nobody is hitting them with a high percentage, bombers are just further down and can use wedges from the rough.

That might be a little harsh...shot a 75 on Sunday. Even par for the whole event. I think I read that even par would have won 4 of the previous 5 Opens at Winged Foot.
