It's a national crisis Terry.... not divided by political lines.... the virus doesn't care if you're Dem or GOP. But it will take advantage if someone is out to prove a political point by being careless.... whether it is a Floyd protestor or a Trump rally goer or a bar patron taking his lead from the Commander in Chief and throwing caution to the wind because after it's all just a big lie or scam out to get Trump etc. etc. etc. Crazily enough there are still many out there who believe that last bit of conspiratorial fantasy and that's a fire fueled by Trump statements like the one he made in Tulsa and continues to back up that without tests new cases would be down. New cases are new cases.... caused by virus transmission and will be there regardless if you discover them by testing and in fact new cases will rise if tests are not discovering them before more are becoming infected.
So you think a bunch of 20 somethings heading to the bars do so because they saw Trump at gathering on TV recently? You must be older than I am because I recall the main motivation being the desire to smoke, drink and get laid..... and not in that particular order.
Not the reason they go to the bar George but it is the reason for some that they are too carefree and careless about taking precautions at the bar. Younger people are probably more on the carefree side whereas older people in some cases just don't believe it's a serious problem and that it has been misrepresented by the fake news media etc. etc. In any event we have one hell of a community spread going on here in Florida with over 5,000 new cases per day. Now if we could just quit testing we could get those down to zero cases per day..... it's all the tests fault as we know from listening to Trump. From Trump's Town Hall meeting with Hannity on Fox: Perhaps the newsiest quote was Trump saying "if we didn't do testing, we'd have no cases," a nonsensical line that Hannity didn't challenge at all...
"To turn it into a political act is exceedingly undermining the health of the nation," said Cheryl Healton, the dean of the NYU School of Global Public Health. "When you make it a partisan thing or when you simply as the leader mock it conceptually, mock the disease, make up things about the disease trajectory that are not true, talk about manners in which you can protect yourself that are false, when you have someone who wants to live in that anti-science narrative when we are the victim of a major dilemma that can only be solved by a science-based intervention, that's a huge problem."
Here is Fox News online as of a moment ago. Fox News Florida's new Covid cases just reported this morning as 9,000 new cases yesterday.... almost doubling the previous record. Texas having similar issues and both are closing bars. And yet.... by looking soley at Fox News none of these troubles exist. This nation is so divided it's in trouble.
You might see people knocking over a statue on Fox News but you're not going to see this video of people ordered by the Trump campaign Tulsa staff to remove the stickers placed on every other arena seat that said "Do Not Sit Here" as an effort that was initially made to keep social distance at the Tulsa rally. But Pence lied on Friday about how the Trump campaign took steps at that rally to keep people safe.... like handing out masks that were never used by almost anyone there.... and obviously purposely reversing efforts that had been made to keep people at a safer social distance. Trump campaign had social distancing stickers removed before Tulsa rally - CNNPolitics
In case you missed it, and if you watch CNN and MSNBC you surely did, here's the findings of the study done by Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Treatment with Hydroxychloroquine Cut Death Rate Significantly in COVID-19 Patients, Henry Ford Health System Study Shows I hope that not too many people died because it wasn't used because of the opposition to this drug. The governor of Arizona actually issued an executive order forbidding its use. " Treatment with hydroxychloroquine cut the death rate significantly in sick patients hospitalized with COVID-19 – and without heart-related side-effects, according to a new study published by Henry Ford Health System."
That's real positive news. About the only study out of many that says the drug could be of benefit to the very sick when most if not all say not so but still positive news is positive news. No results in yet from Henry Ford that can prove that taking the drug prevents one from catching the virus.... which is why Trump was taking it. In other news several secret service agents who were in Tulsa and Phoenix have tested positive for the virus and probably more will after tonight's unnecessary get together in South Dakota. Speaking of which Trump Jr's GF who was in both Tulsa and Phoenix has now tested positive: Kimberly Guilfoyle -- Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend and top Trump campaign official -- tests positive for coronavirus - CNNPolitics But these campaign related crowd gatherings are necessary I have read for the mental health of our beloved president so I guess everyone just has to take one for the team......
If you are going to allow mass protests, beach bars open, restaurants to over crowd then you cannot discriminate against political gatherings.
George I view it differently if a crowd wants to assemble on their own to view Mt. Rushmore and everyone or most everyone there decided not to social distance and not wear a mask then it's a pure coincidence that their personal feelings or political feelings about those types of things and fateful timing brought them all together at the same time to be in harms way. But when the President of the United States invites those thousands of people to gather in a dangerous setting.... and he is one who has spent months eschewing masks and social distancing as a divisive political statement then that is an entirely different irresponsibility on his part.
You said it yourself. He invited them. They were not forced to attend. I can understand why you would not want Trump to appear in public when Biden can't.
The Henry Ford Hospital study was not like the other "studies" done over a weekend with patients hours if not minutes from dying. This involved over 2500 patients and was done over months. Even more importantly, it wasn't politically motivated. Oh, and it doesn't stand alone, studies from Europe also has positive findings. Your comment that it's the ONLY study with positive results is pure CNN.
That same CNN who praised Obama's visit to "Majestic Mt. Rushmore" while talking of Trump's visit to a monument to slavery and racism.
Gipper I haven't seen any other studies say there was a measurable positive influence of hydroxychloriqine on morbidity of those sick with Covid-19.... but maybe they are out there.... maybe you can list some for me. Otherwise the HF study did say how they administered the drug differently so that does differentiate it from other studies if so. George.... they don't have to show up but it is the President of the United States putting on the show.... and his responsibility therefore if people get sick and die from his need for public love. "It was a spectacle that unfolded before thousands of people, most without masks, who were seated close together in bleacher seats and on black folding chairs that were zip-tied together because of a local fire code, making physical distancing impossible. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican and close Trump ally, set the tone earlier this week during an appearance on Fox News where she said there would be no social distancing as spectators gathered to celebrate freedom. Like Trump's rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last month -- where at least eight Trump campaign staffers came down with the coronavirus and dozens of Secret Service agents were forced to quarantine -- the South Dakota event ignored many of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for large gatherings. The lack of any visible effort to keep people safe was effectively an act of sabotage against Trump's own public health officials, who fear that crowds gathering this holiday weekend could lead to frightening surges in cases and an increase in America's death toll from the pandemic."
Let me close my part in this discussion. As long a protests are held daily and cheered on by the press there should be no objection to rallies.
George not one person here has been able to muster the courage to say that Trump is wrong.... and lacking in presidential leadership to hold these dangerous crowd gathering rallies for his own self serving interests. And I assume the same silence will prevail when the GOP Convention wrap up is held in Jacksonville..... in a state which reported a record 11,445 new cases today. Florida Gov. DeSantis has his head so far up Trump's ass he won't be stopping it either. And the thing is in about two weeks after this 4th of July weekend in which so many Trump followers and pandemic non-believers practice no social distancing or masks in their backyard gatherings 11,445 new cases daily may seem like a small amount. One more thing on protestors.... I have said several times on this board that I view their actions if carried out without Covid precautions as extremely stupid and irresponsible. The huge difference is they are there perhaps because their friend Bob invited them to come along etc. etc. whereas these people at Trump's rallies are only there because he is there ..... and last I looked he was the leader of the free world.... or at least the President of the United States used to be known as that and held in the highest regard internationally. Sadly that is no more...... now he is just "Bob"....
Did you see Joe Biden introduce himself as Joe Biden’s husband yesterday? I can almost feel your pain except it’s so damn funny.
Diamond Lake Mi. is located in Cass County..... which Donald Trump won in the 2016 election by a huge margin of 63% to 32%.
Black Lives Matter? Certainly not to other Blacks. Another weekend of black genocide in our major cities with blacks murdering blacks like it's a game show. And lots of children among the victims. Is Chicago now the most dangerous city in the world?
