Incredible Ralph. As Terry said, it's important for you to know if you've had it since it appears that you would then no have to worry about getting it again. I assume that even when one is fully recovered the test would still indicate positive but I haven't heard one way or another.
Appreciate the kind words, I’ll express again it was something out of the ordinary in 55 years. It was more a head game from what we’ve been seeing and then personally experiencing if I even truly had it. Kinda bummed I could not get tested to find out, and I have no idea gipper if it would still indicate positive, I wondered the same thing myself. I’m hoping that some immunity is involved with folks catching this, otherwise it’s going to be a rough future if what they say is true at it possibly being a regular virus we are going to face... My 87 year old father reminded me yesterday that he remembers the polio scare and everything shutting down. Of course we weren’t as connected back then but it reinforces that we have been thru similar circumstances. Wishing and praying nothing but the best for each and everyone of you guys, I know it’s not said and we get busy but you are definitely family and I love you all... Even AJ...
I'm hoping that a year from now a vaccine will be available. The hope is to survive this onslaught and get inoculated before the next viral storm.
Honestly, I don't even care anymore what Trump did before the virus. It's what he's doing now that I care about. Ralph, I'm glad you came out on the other side of whatever had you there. Your story is similar to a few folks I know in these parts who didn't qualify or warrant a 'test.' Hell, the one person that we know who did warrant a 'test' still doesn't have their status back more than a week later. This was certainly an infrastructure wake up call that we need to heed going forward.
"If anything, the combined directorate was stronger because related expertise could be commingled"" Well that combined expertise seems as if it was woefully unprepared to deal with a real pandemic.
Right or left, nobody in this or any country seems to have been able to do much to stop this thing...maybe South Korea where they locked everybody down, arrested people, and tracked contacts by cell phone data. Hardly anybody seemed to take this seriously fast enough...the left can quote stupid things that Trump said and the right can quote stupid things the left (DeBlasio and others) said. Pointless. I do feel that the CDC and the FDA dropped the ball and ultimately they are part of the Trump administration, where the buck stops...however most of them have been there a long time and were appointed and hired long before he got there. Exactly what advice they were giving him probably only they and he know. Certainly the testing was a fiasco. Hopefully our manufacturers and scientists can step up and provide us with the equipment we need to treat this thing and the testing to provide knowledge about how it behaves. I was reading today that Medtronics is working on stepping up their production of ventilators...but they currently use 100 suppliers from 14 countries to make a ventilator. It's a nightmare. Stay safe everyone...
Really happy to hear that you are felling better! My wife is on immunosuppressive meds due to her kidney transplant so I am as nervous at a cat about about this virus and am the only one in the home who will go out and do the shopping for necessary supplies. Will be happy when this storm finally passes.
Stu - agreed on all counts. There is blame enough to go around, from China to the White House including Trump/Obama/Bush/Clinton/Bush. We are in the early stages of a war. The beginning of most wars, especially when the aggressor begins with a sneak attack, start with "fog of war" lack of accurate early intel. The ground forces are being mobilized, information is being collected, corrections are being made, and an all-out assault on the enemy is coming. In the mean time, I would love to see some humanity from those that use every opportunity to bash their favorite target regardless of how based or baseless their attacks. Continuing to beat off one's own drum is in poor taste in the best of times. When continued in the face of humanity's most recent threat is unconscionable. Once the war is won, I'm sure there will be plenty of after action reports to provide ample opportunity to point plenty of fingers, and nobody will be faultless in the end. That's the bitch of war: nobody's plan is perfect, despite the media on both sides telling you otherwise. We can have an adult, critical conversation about this threat without a certain individual getting his axe-grinding off every time he reads/hears anti-Trump porn stories from his sources. (There has been an average of his favorite porn published every 5 seconds of every day of every month for the last five years, since Trump announced his candidacy.) He can either stop jaxing off to his anti-Trump paraphernalia for a bit, or STFU on this topic.
I agree WSU that we're all in this together and none of it should be politicized..... but the guy at the top does just that so much daily that he's hard to watch in those briefings.
Did you ever wonder whatever happened to those kids in kindergarten that couldn't stack 2 blocks one on another, that colored the sky green and needed help to go to the potty?....well, they became "journalists." Is there a more inane group of clowns then the Presidential press corps? I suggest that Trump get a different press secy. to handle the press conferences. My choice Nick Saban. I'd love to hear him tell these morons "that's a fuckin' stupid question, next."
Nick Saban never makes false claims about how incredible he is.... or says that anything good that happens out on the field is because of the great incredible things that he himself did to make it happen and that no coach in history has ever done such great incredible things. Thanks for bringing Nick into this conversation for the contrast.
Johnson and Johnson announces it's got a candidate for Vaccine. Now that Johnson & Johnson have identified a lead candidate and two backups, the company will move into the first phase of production on an accelerated timeline. The company hopes to hold Phase 1 of clinical trials in September, with the hope of deploying the vaccine in emergency situations by early 2021. "We want to first of all make sure they are safe, that the platform is safe, that it can be effective," Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky said during an interview on NBC's Today show Monday morning. "We anticipate starting in humans in September. We could have something called interim results where we use statistical methodology to look and see do we have a high degree of success." According to Johnson & Johnson, it would take a typical vaccine five to seven years to reach this point in the approval process. Most health officials say that even on an accelerated timeline, the fall of 2021 is the earliest that a vaccine for COVID-19 will be widely available. So who can do a better job Dave? Who would do a better job Dave? The commie? The dementia patient? The criminal? The non societal norm mayor? The lying squaw? Who Dave? That's the list Dave. That's who made the tourney. America voted, common sense and American standards won, and they will again.

"America voted," Yes they did and rural America won... whose votes count more than urban America with our screwey electoral system. He didn't win the popular... majority of the votes.
Hey like Corey said I'm hoping he ultimately quits worrying about his ratings, his image and how he is perceived and just does the job so well that he wins a landslide election in the fall because everyone is so proud of how he handled the crisis.
Ah yes Dave... we know how 51% of the people were screwed by the system designed to not allow a few large cities to elect a NATIONAL office. I won't go into all the BAD things about a straight democracy, and why they always fail. Go look it up yourself.
