IMO talk of faked injuries is much ado about nothing. Won't happen. If I'm wrong, which I doubt, I like Stu's solution.
William Hill sportsbook set an over/under of 83.5 for Houston hit-by-pitches in 2020, a number that would rank as one of the 10 highest in the previous five seasons.
Giants are having a reunion of the 2010 WS Champions but have disinvited Aubrey Huff because of his tweets....what did Huff have to say? "Quite frankly, shocked. Disappointed. If it wasn't for me, they wouldn't be having a reunion," Huff told The Athletic about the Giants' decision. "But if they want to stick with their politically correct, progressive bulls---, that's fine." Giants bar Huff from '10 WS reunion over tweets
A lot of kids leagues across the country use the names of MLB teams. I saw an article where some LL team in Pennsylvania dropped the Astros name. I'll bet that they won't be the only ones.
oh no, 2 little leagues in California banned the Astros back when this first broke out. The Commissioner totally pissed this thing down his leg.
Pretty funny that Madison Bumgarner has been doing rodeo for a few years under an assumed name. I don't know how he was able to pull it off though. Surely people recognized him or his friends and family knew he was doing it, probably some teammates as well. Seems like somebody would have leaked it. He got found out from a Facebook post. When I first read about it I thought bull riding, bronco busting, etc...but it turns out he's a roper, not exactly in the same category as those others in terms of injuries.
The Dodgers have come up with yet another phenom outfielder. He is Cody Thomas, 6'5", 211lb who used to be Baker Mayfield's backup QB at Oklahoma. Yesterday he hit a HR on the first pitch he saw and later robbed a HR in RF that was going over the fence. He's one of those square-jawed, hero types, who's just one phone booth short of becoming superman...
If there is a worse conditioned team in MLB than the Yankees I have yet to see them. To re-cap, last season they sent 38 players to the IL. At one point they had no starting pitchers and traversed an entire week using bullpen by committee. After two weeks of spring training they have lost James Paxton for three months, Luis Severino for the year ( last year he gave them 20 innings ), they are holding their breath on Aaron Judge who may need shoulder surgery and is not allowed to throw a baseball more than 100' and now the mighty Giancarlo Stanton who will miss at least a month with the dreaded calf sprain. Of course starting CF Aaron Hicks is out for the 2/3 of the season recovering from TJ surgery and Luke Voit is just back from having his obliques re-attached to his abdomen.
Yankee injury woes continue, Judge has broken rib could be out for awhile and may need surgery. Questions abound on how the Yankee Medical Staff missed this problem.
Judge and Severino were both injured last year. Nothing was done in the off season. Now Sanchez needs five days off because he was asked to catch two days in a row and now he has a strained back.
Yeah I saw the report on the MLB network today. I can't ever imagine the Yankees not having the best of the best at their disposal when it comes to player care. If they don't, someone needs to be fired and replaced today.
With MLB being pushed further off into mid May, how are the players going to stay in shape. The Astros have split into 2 groups one training here in Houston and one training in Fla. I don't know how it's going to work with coaching and training staff. I wonder if it will even get going in Mid May.
You have to wonder if MLB will even have a 1/2 season of play at this point. It would seem like when a decision is made to go ahead and play that teams will need 2-4 weeks of additional "spring" training before they can get back to business.
As MLB struggles with what to do about the 2020 season a really odd option has been reported to be on the table for MLB. Grapefruit League and Cactus League? Teams go back to Spring Training and then stay there and play the regular season based on those 2 leagues rather than returning home and playing traditional schedule. Reduces travel, no fans in the stands, and while it could be done I don't really see the point. MLB realignment: League considers radical move for 2020 season
So we could have both teams in the World Series from the same League? At least it would give us something to watch.
