I saw it KP, I can address an issue without it being about Alabama. The world, and the game, are bigger than Alabama... or are you in self-defense mode to protect the emperor's spiffy duds?
With the exception of tOSU...every B1G team that beat NE, won or is winning they're bowl game.... Not sure where I'm going with this....but it's a ray of light!
No, the last 24 hours this thread has been about Saban running up the score. I guess you're going to have let me know when you change the scope. Carry on, bud!
Can’t believe Santa actually wears an orange suit and drinks piss beer from a koozie. Thought he would have elves dedicated to making a Christmas craft beer.
I've got absolutely no luck Bobda....I could open a funeral parlor today, and people would stop dying tommorow.
Guarantano looked like Tom Brady on the next to last drive. I wonder where that was the first three and a half quarters?
Happy to see Cincinnati win their game against Boston College after the long rain delay. Boston College players are a bunch of mean dude players. I saw a lot of poor sportsmanship on players down and being pummeled after the whistle. Also a great deal pf bumping and pushing on Cincinnati players returning to their side of the ball after completed plays? Luke Fickel has found a home where he will continue to find success.
I want to offer my two cents here because I think that there was a BIG difference in the final decisions made by Fleck and Saban. In Fleck's case his team was up by 7. Running plays risks a turnover and possible losing the game. Taking the knee primarily seals the victory since it reduces the possibility of a turnover to almost zero. It was maybe smart class. In Saban's case he was up by 12 and a turnover would not have been fatal. He was going to win whether he ran plays or took a knee. For Harbaugh he ran plays.
Gip, I think Corey has moved up to loftier issues. He let me know in no uncertain terms that this was no longer about Saban.
I didn't realize that you were so sensitive that you required a safety notification. I didn't realize that a topic that discussed multiple coaches being trash would automatically become all about your coach solely because he was mentioned with the others. I actually did move onto something more lofty. My daughter decided she was going to put on a ballet show in front of the television and AJ gave me a call a bit later. By the time both finished, the game had gone down to the wire and I was just trying to figure out how Indiana coughed up the lead. But we've established between the two of us, which is more important. I am shifting focus to Gip now, so just hold on, okay? Mike, I think it's a fair point, but to add to that, there was ample sideline footage of Fleck literally doing the math and calling the officials a variety of names when he thought they were messing with his strategy. I mean, your point is valid but it also plays further into the narrative that there is absolutely no reason to be running that play with your starters on the field. By making your joke, you made my point even further. I guess what people miss is that I said it was bush league by both coaches. One of them was risking the NFL future of his RB, the other was risking the Arena future of his QB. Both are inexcusable. KP, Okay, we're back now. As for running up the score, it's always been a part of the game. It became really sexy under SOS at Florida, Johnson at Miami and Bowden at FSU during their big runs. If this was really 'the way', they'd do it in the NFL but they don't. They empty the benches as far as they can, and milk the clock as best they can with limited resources. In college, they pump their almost unlimited resources into style points and Napoleonic stunts that make their fan bases feel better. I even went so far as to mention that I wish the school I root for would **** can the purple faced tyrant that currently leads the squad, but you somehow doubled down and made this further about Saban only. It appears that fragile ego requires a little something extra to reward Saban for his Christ-like generosity. Here you go:
I hope PJ Fleck gets some consideration for the Nobel Prize and that Nancy Pelosi opens a Congressional investigation into the Alabama score as time ran out!
I didn't see the end of the IU/Tenn game but reading about it...wow did IU snatch defeat from the jaws of victory or what! Great finish to the season for the Vols who everybody left for dead after the start of the season. SEC East just might get back to the old days of the 90's when it was a 3 horse race.
For what I saw of it, those two teams appeared to be mirror images of each other. I was surprised by the level of athleticism that Indiana had, and I was surprised that both offenses were so mediocre. I guess IU lost their QB during the year, or something like that? Either way, both teams appeared to be pretty good though. Not a bad game.
"took a knee with a 62-24 lead....that was Osborne....huge class act....me on the other hand....I'm with Woody....." AJ not many if any Spurrier/Gator fans will complain about somebody running up the score on us... but that's a compliment to Spurrier's offensive genius and the bygone days of Florida dominance....
Looked up UCLA 66 Texas 3 ...1997. UCLA up 45-3 on a hapless Texas team had their starters in deep in the 4th Qtr, and put another 21 points on the poor old hapless Longhorns. Laughed all the way back to L.A. **** happens, run it up when you can!
Terry, actually I don't condone running up the score. My whole point, in response to your earlier post about resenting remote camps in the south, was that there were other motivations for Saban not taking a knee in this bowl game in addition to the camps.
