I am spending my day trying to race home from Perdido Key back to Hartselle. Hopefully, I'll be back by kickoff. When I made my picks this week, I just randomly assigned points so hopefully I just pick winners
That’s a pretty good drive back to Hartselle, watch out for the snowbirds driving down south to Florida as they will run you over....
Shamefully kp I did have to look and I’m a cracker from Florida but it’s what 6-7 hours away from my location in South central Florida so it’s another unexplored area I haven’t spent much time in. With the nearby Pensacola shooting I was actually concerned if the traffic issues may affect him.
Now Don after driving 175 miles yesterday and having the joy at hitting a Walmart’s with nothing but folks wearing Michigan and Ohio St sweatshirts and moving VERY slowly there is a sense of displacement that happens every year down here. That being said the older I get I can appreciate getting out of the cold weather and the positive effect it has on our local economy, even if you are Yankees...
We made it back in time for the game. We got home about 7 minutes into the first quarter. With the shooting in Pensacola, I opted to drive thru Gulf Shores instead and headed up through Alabama rather than taking the actual 'shorter' route which includes a brief skip through Florida.
So we get this text yesterday morning from my youngest: "Hey guys, active shooter in Pensacola. I'm fine. We're shelter in place in the classroom right now." I said knock off the BS, and dont ever kid about crap like that again, assuming he was being cute about what happened at Pearl. Then he called me and said google it pops. He was about a 1/2 mile away from that event.
Since this happened on base, I don't think traffic outside of the fence would have been affected much except for people going into the base during the shutdown. Pensacola was my first duty station and it is tucked away in the extreme southwest side of Pensacola, although they probably shut down a couple of smaller satellite bases on the west side also.
Ralph, this'll be my first year as a snow bird for the whole season. Y'all bitch about us but are happy to take our money.
