In the media, there seems to be a lot of certainty that Alabama is second only to LSU. While the game wound up close, it wasn't really close. I tend to agree with KP, I think there's a chance that Auburn sends it all into a tailspin. Just imagine what a Michigan win over Ohio State would do? LOL.

I think LSU and Alabama are.very similar this year. Explosive offense and iffy defense.

What will make the CFP committees job easy?

    LSU beating UGA..ie winning out.
Ohio State beating UM ie winning out.
    Clemson winning out
    Auburn beating Alabama
Utah beating Oregon for a 12-1 season.
Doesn't really matter what OU does.

That takes UGA and Alabama out, and they don't have to deal with a 1 loss LSU or Ohio State and Utah will be a 1 loss Conference Champion with only 1 other 1 loss team (possibly) and the OU defense eliminates them at that point...they could mail it in.

Mildly surprised that Ohio State jumped LSU in this week's poll. Most reports seem to indicate the move was due to our superior defense in the eyes of the committee.

What's going to throw it all in a tailspin is when the Aggies beat the Swamp Kitties on a soggy night in their own house.
They are talking a lot of smack... and the boys in maroon ain't saying a word back.
    I like it.

Ha, the difference is South Carolina is probably one of the better teams that Clemson has played. I think they will be exposed in the playoff.

There are already questions of how many of Alabama's players that are probable 1st round draft choices will sit out the bowl game since it is not part of the CFP. I hate it, but I can kind of understand it.

I agree Kp, the CFP games have changed the old bowl games scenario. Like You, I can understand a top NFL pick in the draft, they can not afford to take the chance of injury, so they stay home.

If Georgia beats LSU, would LSU drop below Utah or Oklahoma or would 2 SEC teams make the playoffs?

Kp you may have zero receivers plus no Harris available for your bowl game.

Waddle is a sophomore, but you are correct. It would not surprise me if the other 3 are not expected to be first round picks.

    Bobda,

I think that is the nightmare scenario for the committee. If Georgia beats LSU, there will be almost no way to keep out either of them. No 1 loss team in America would have a better resume than LSU and Georgia would be SEC champs with 1 loss. Things would get crazy then because the 1 loss teams would have a better resume than Georgia. Things would get ugly. Couches would be burned.

Corey, what 1 loss team would have a better resume than Georgia? If Georgia was to beat LSU, they would have beaten 4 top 15 teams this year. The So. Carolina loss was bad but I don't think any of the rest of the 1 loss teams played that many top teams and won them all. Utah has played 1 team in the top 25 and they lost to them. Oklahoma will have played 4 in the top 25 with a loss to K. State. Is that better? Baylor may have the best argument. They will have played 4 top 25 and their only loss will be to Oklahoma....unless they lose to Oklahoma next week. So which 1 loss team has the better resume than UGA?

That's a good point KP, I was too busy looking at it through the point of view from LSU losing rather than Georgia winning. Although, of all the 1 loss teams, Georgia would have the worst loss.

Kansas State? South Carolina? Is there much of a difference? Of course, either Oklahoma or Baylor will have 2 losses after this week.

Kansas State is a pretty darn good team. South Carolina is a bad football team with a decent defense.
