Dodgers after Filipe Vasquez of Pittsburgh. The Pirates have the worst catchers in the NL, and our #1 prospect, Keibert Ruiz, is available. The holdup is the Pirates also want Dustin May: our 6'6", red-haired, flame thrower, who is ready right now. No way. We'll do Ruiz and somebody else, but not May...

The Pirates better act because they'll go from zero to hero at that slot with just a straight up trade right now. The rats are in last place and need a make-over that would do well to start behind the dish.

Dodger catcher Will Smith made his debut as the new starter tonight with a historic performance. His 6 RBIs were the most by a Dodger rookie catcher since Al Lopez in 1930...

Did you see the kid from the Reds who had something like the greatest rookie debut since Johnny Bench? Good for him.

Yes what in the world would the Dodgers want with Tyler White. I figured that was one of those deals where one team unloads some players with contracts and no future for a player that they can then dump ASAP. A money move. They do it all the time in the NBA.

Josh Vanmeter. From a small community just south of Fort Wayne, IN. The roster lists him as an infielder, but he currently plays LF. Freakish speed. He's listed at 5'11' and 165 lbs. but his power is that of a much bigger guy. Shows what bat speed and a keen eye can accomplish. It's early and he hasn't been exposed to the entire league yet, but he certainly is off to a good start.

Zac Rosscup is a pretty good left-handed pitcher who has bouts of wildness. The Cards are his 4th team this season and he can do something well: he gets out left-handed batters. As long as his control holds up, he will do well in his specialized role. I liked him.

Tyler White is a mystery to me. The Dodgers don't need him for anything. Maybe it's some kind of money/roster maneuver as you suggest.

I am still wondering if the Astros will make a pitching move. We could use another reliable starter and we could also use some help in the bullpen. But time is running out to make those deals. Kyle Tucker who is maybe our top minor league prospect is probably what everybody wants in the deal but while he currently is blocked at the MLB level by our current set of outfielders ( Marisneck, Brantley, Springer and rookie phenom Yordan Alvarez), several of those guys could become free agents in the next year or 2 and he'd be able to move up.

Felipe Vazquez of the Pirates is reportedly the best reliever available, but will cost whoever makes a deal for him a ton of prospects according to what I read.

There's no way the Dodgers give up Lux, so they'd be smart to take the #2 the Dodgers are offering which is their top catching prospect AND the rats need catching. It's exactly what they need. It's exactly what the Dodgers need. If that trade doesn't happen, the Pirates dropped the ball because the Dodgers will just start stacking starters in the bullpen if they can't make a trade. That will give them a full year and an off-season of free agency to find that one more pitcher they need in the bullpen. Kelly is showing his true form lately, so I think he's a keeper.

Looks like the Dodgers aren't going to have to make any moves. They have what they need to make their run.

Did anybody actually land a punch in that fight? Does Puig have a prior agreement with teammates as to who will hold him back while he looks like he wants to fight? o_O

Ever wonder what the NL/Dodgers would be like if they'd been able to work it out to get Verlander in 2017 instead of the Astros? I believe he really wanted to go to LA, partly due to his wife's career but I forget what was the reason the Dodgers decided they were better off with Yu Darvish.

    The Dodgers made a mistake.
There were plenty of punches landed in that fight. There was hair pulling and the whole 9 yards. That was a doozy.
