We all hope so, but it will be a year or 2 before we really know. He's going to have to work hard to build up the talent and coach up the players he is inheriting.
For anyone with the time and interest in watching a 12 minute interview, LJ is easy to listen to talking about his approach to baseball and coaching. ISD Video | Link Jarrett Introduced at Notre Dame
I watched the interview Sid, he said all the right things. I have hope for the future of Notre Dame baseball. I just hope that the Administration gives him the support that he needs. I know baseball is not a money making sport, but if we're going to play it then the coach should have the stuff necessary to compete with the best. There are a lot of technological aides out there that top programs have invested in for their player development. I don't know what we have, but we should have the best available. edit: meant to mention...what who the heck got him that hat, looks like it's 2 sizes too big!
If you have a subscription to the Athletic, there is a good article on Notre Dame and it's independence in football. It costs us 20 million a year in lost revenue, but they feel it is worth it as being able to be a National Football program playing on both coasts is part of the Universities DNA and mission.
Terry, I do not have access to the article, but for the first time, I think I now have a better understanding of how being an independent, really plays out for Notre Dame.
Kind of weird that there is a lot of College Football talk because of the Media Days that all the conferences have this time of the year, but the Irish don't have a big event only Kelly doing a press conference right before the opening of Fall Training Camp. So we can expect one the Friday or Saturday. Nothing going on with regards to recruiting either, oh visits are being made and all that, in fact there were some kids on campus this past weekend for 2021. They are not done for 2020 but there won't be very many more added to the class. I think they are done for the most part on offense, mostly looking at CB's and Safety's for 2020.
Well here we go...Louisville has decided the opening home game with The Irish will be a “blackout” game. Team and fans in black etc... Unless they are planning on blacking out the entire stadium so the ND players can’t see the Louisville team at all I don’t see this as much of a issue for Notre Dame. Play in whatever color you want I’m pretty sure The Irish will have a win when it’s done. But that’s just me.
Georgia tried.a blackout against Alabama a few years ago and lost badly. They haven't tried another one since.
Blackouts, Whiteouts, Greenouts, etc work best when you have the better team! But they do sell merchandise!
Best comment out of Kelly's press conference was that Aaron Banks was full go for Fall camp also Trevor Rhuland is 100%,he will be the #1 guy off the bench at center and guard.
Terry, I see where Texas has received a commitment from a 5 Star running back. We had some hope he might come to Ohio State.
