pitching and defense with timely hitting. Every time I watch the Twins, that's what I take away from the game.

Astros go from being the Bruise Brothers and bashing teams to death with the HR and Extra base hits...to the small ball team that steals bases and manufactures runs. 3 or 4 new guys from Round Rock to replace the injured guys are not the same type of player.

MLB draft starts today. That Oregon State Catcher is considered the top prospect. He also played special teams at Oregon State as a freshman, was a kicker.

Damn for a guy taken 2x #1 overall, I've never heard of Danny Goodwin.

It's MLB draft day! Here's what you need to know

She hogged all the camera time! Btw, a 24 oz can of Bud light is $14.50 at the ball park. I asked for 2, and they made me fill out a loan app first.

    Terry,

If you pay close attention, the California kids are in every conference. They are in the SEC, the Big12, Big10 etc. It's a profanely rich talent pool to draw from.

The rat snatch of the day was pulled off by the Injuns. We had a pitcher named Espino all set to sign with the Dodgers at pick #25. Smelling the cheese, the Injuns raced in and grabbed him with pick #24...

I thought the Dodgers drafted well. They got a couple of boom sticks with plus rated gloves with their first two picks. The nabbed an RHP out of Lake Travis HS in Texas a few rounds down. They got a pitcher out of Stanford. All in all, on its surface, not a bad draft at all.

The Dodgers always take college players if they can. They take HS kids only if they think the kid is special.

Watching the Red Sox v Yankees the other night. Yankees batting in the bottom of the 9th , trailing by 3. Leadoff hitter gets on Kendrys Morales, a LH pinch hitter comes up. For some ungodly reason, Joey Cora puts the shift on. The second baseman moves to short right field, shortstop moves to second and third baseman is straight up the middle. There is no one on the left side of the infield. The analyst in the booth quickly points out that all Morales has to do is bunt or flick the ball anywhere to the left side and the tying run will be at the plate with nobody out.

But Aaaron Boone to the rescue. He lets Morales hit away and he makes an out without advancing the runner and the next two batters follow suit.

The analyst was beside himself and so was I.

Unbelievable. There are times when I wonder what goes through the minds of some knucklehead managers. Most of the time it revolves around the failure to bunt in an obvious bunt situation. This situation cries for an explanation from Boone.
