That's pretty interesting, a lateral move in the same division of the same conference. Tenn must have offered him a lot of money that UGA wasn't ready to match. Or maybe Smart and Chaney weren't happy campers together.

Terry, I think there were problems. Word is that he was encouraged to go.

Yeah Kingsbury to the Cardinals, Tim. I don't get it myself. He's had some good young QB's, he was he OCoord for Sumlin when they had Case Keenum, and the OCoord for Johnny Football when he won the Heisman, and of course he had Patrick Mahomes. But his record as a HC is mediocre at best and zero experience in the NFL. If they are trying to find the next Sean McVay I guess it's a good pick based on his cool good looks, but that's about it.

It will be interesting to see what Smart does to replace both Coordinators. On Defense he's probably got that in the bag since that's his background and he was very good at it. But offense, I wonder where he'll go with that hire.

Also since Manny Diaz fired the entire offensive staff, he's got a lot of work to do to build that staff.

Josh Gattis Alabama Co-OCoord is leaving the Tide for Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Staff. So Saban now has 2 openings on the Offensive side of the ball.

Tide apparently losing another coach as Manny Diaz is hiring QB Coach Dan Enos as his new OCoord. This fuels speculation that Jalen Hurts will be in Miami next season.

Steve Sarkesian reported to be the next Alabama OCoord, it has also been reported on ND boards that ND OCoord Chip Long was in Tuscaloosa to talk to Saban about the job. That is disconcerting to this Irish fan after Texas A&M hired away Mike Elko last year. It's also very interesting that one report is that he'll join the staff even if he doesn't come on as the OCoord.

Irish also lost RB coach Autry Denson, who took the HC job at Charleston Southern. Good for him I hope he does well, it's going to be a tough job though for him to succeed. I'm not really worried about losing Autry, even though he did a good job with our RB's.

What do you all make of Enos leaving to go to Miami. I doubt Miami can pay as much as Bama.

I'm not sure. Everyone assumes he was going to be promoted to OC but I'm not sure that was a certainty. I'm sure working for Saban is not easy. Saban's staff is highly paid so it must have been a lucrative offer.

Long not getting the Alabama job is not necessarily a good thing for Notre Dame. It can't be a good thing for his relationship with Kelly to interview for the same job at another school, even if it does mean he might make more money. Although Feldman is reporting that Long is staying at ND. So we shall see. Maybe he went to Kelly and told him why he would like to interview at Alabama (he's from Tuscaloosa I've read), maybe he had the OK to do so, I don't know. But I wouldn't have been shocked if Kelly fired him, even if he didn't call it that.

It's different with our RB coach who left to take the HC job at Charleston Southern, that's at least a step up and he can leave on good terms.

ND replacements for our RB coach: Names that are surfacing is the Miss State RB coach, the TCU RB coach. A lot of fans speculated that Tony Alford (Ohio State) might be a name. But I can't imagine that after leaving ND for the Buckeyes that Kelly would want him back, or that Alford would want to leave Ohio State unless it's for a move up the ladder.
