So as we are at the end of the regular season, I thought we might have a topic here to talk about the playoffs and Super Bowl. Houston Texans are limping into the playoffs, not a good thing to do. We have serious injury problems, in the defensive backfield, and at WR. Our OL has struggled all year and I feel bad for Deshaun Watson as he has to run for his life nearly every play. But he's been good at that. In the loss to the Eagles he put us in a position to win but our depleted defensive backfield couldn't stop them from getting into FG position to win. Our Front 7 with Watt and Clowney has been good all year, JJ Watt has had an amazing comeback year after missing most of 2 years with back and knee surgeries. Right now to me the hot team is the Colts, Andrew Luck seems to have gotten his mojo back and they are a dangerous team, their defense is playing well and they will be a hard out. They still have to beat the Titans on Saturday though. The Chiefs at one time looked invincible, but since that epic game with the Rams a few weeks ago they have not looked quite the same. Doesn't help that they had to get rid of Kareem Hunt after that video surfaced of him beating that woman. The Chargers have had a great year and then there is the always dangerous Patriots. The Pat's aren't likely to have home field advantage so that leaves it sort of wide open. I don't follow the NFC so much so haven't gotten much of a feel for who is good beyond the Rams.
Just saw an article where the Colts have flown Tyler Trent to Nashville for the Music City Bowl between Purdue and Auburn. That's a great story. I'm rooting for Tyler and the Boilermakers. I hope they get that win for him.
Raven's / Browns game was awesome. Baker Mayfield is really good and the Browns nearly pulled it off vs the#1 defense in the Ravens. Lamar Jackson also can play, you have to wonder now what happens with Joe Flacco? Colts / Titans is a huge game tonight. You have to think both the Colts (assuming they win) and the Ravens are really hot teams that could make trouble as wild cards
The missed field goal attempt that bounced off the upright and crossbar sent the poor bear into hibernation
Some really good matchups this weekend. I don't think anybody wants to play the Colts right now, they are a hot team entering these playoffs and continued vs the Texans. Luck vs Mahomes should be quite a duel. Then there is the old man war between Phillip Rivers and Tom Brady in New England. BTW did you know Rivers has 8 kids and he and his wife are expecting #9 in March? I'm rooting for him just so he can feed his family!!
Yeah, he's neighbors and really good friends with Mike Sweeney. He helps run Mike's Catholic baseball camps.
Chiefs took care of business vs Indy this weekend. I really thought after watching Luck dismantle the Texans defense that he would fair well in K.C. vs a Chiefs defense everybody says is very average. But he didn't, the Colts looked putrid on offense esp in the 1st half. Maybe it was being out of the dome in the cold weather. I was pretty shocked at how easily the Pat's dismissed the Chargers. I know they don't lose playoff games in Foxboro but I thought the Chargers would at least show up and make it a game. Not being a Cowboy fan, it was thrilling to see the Rams dismantle the 'Boys. I didn't watch much of the New Orleans game, but who doesn't like Drew Brees. I was glad to see them come back and get the win. I'm hoping that the Chiefs take care of the Pat's next weekend and the Saints/Brees take down the Rams. Although I have to say the Rams are a very fun team to watch play. If it weren't for Brees I would be rooting for them. Overall I'd like to see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.
Going to be between 0 and 10 degrees this weekend in Arrowhead Stadium. One thing for sure both of the teams are familiar with cold weather games. So that shouldn't be a factor.
IMHO nobody is "used" to below zero games...so it might be a factor, depending on which team (both used to cold weather) adapts best to frigid weather. Agree that in picking a spread it shouldn't favor either team in terms of an advantage. Will be interesting to watch.
