Brian Kelly has won the Home Depot 2018 Coach of the Year award. He's the only coach to win it three times. Edit: Just noticed Terry mentioned it already.
I'm sure you all remember TE Kyle Rudolph. Good old Minnesota boy. Check out "Dear Kyle" https://youtu.be/YYYvNldM37Y
The awards banquet was last night, I think the video will be available sometime in the near future. I read about it and sounds like everybody had a good time. The only award that I went...waaaht...was Dexter Williams as Newcomer of the Year offense, he's a Sr! Alohi Gilman was the Newcomer of the Year defense and that makes sense it was his first year on the field. Not surprising that Ian Book was the MVP and that was voted on by the Team. We're getting close to the end of recruiting for 2019 with the early signing date Dec 19. There is still talk that the kid from Concord De La Salle, Isaiah Foskey, will be Irish at some time but not Dec 19. A couple of Ohio State players have reopened their recruiting, there might be some interest on those players esp the RB Steele Chambers but in reality it's unlikely any of them will flip to Notre Dame. I think we'll be done on Dec19 with the possible exception of Foskey.
Irish women went to Toledo and got the win, Toledo put up a really good fight and I'm sure Coach McGraw was not esp happy with the play today. Lot of coaching points. But it's a win and this team is still evolving even though it's a veteran team. Learning how to play with both Turner and Shepard in the game and Turner is bound to be a bit rusty after missing all of last year with the ACL. The Men are at UCLA tonight. Hockey won last night at Penn State and play again tonight.
I didn't stay up and watch the 2nd half of the ND/UCLA basketball game but they played a close first half for awhile then went stone cold and were down 31-20 at the half when I went to bed. According to what I read this morning we lost a close game at the buzzer 65-62. Seems like the youth of this team is our problem. We played a good OU team tough at the end but couldn't finish that game either. Hockey was slaughtered at Penn State 9-1, for a split of the weekend series. I didn't watch but it must have been a brutal game for the Irish.
